There are three companies offering dog sledding in the Banff area.
Howling Dog Tours
Their van picks you up from the hotels in the Banff area (and Lake Louise) and then drives outside Banff National Park to Canmore and up to the provincial park in the mountains. Pick a sunny day so you can really enjoy the fantastic scenery. Great to do with kids or on your own. You can stay in the sled and or get out and stand on the runner for any amount of time during the trip. Note that this company is not related to the company in Whistler that made the news for mistreating their dogs.

Kingmik Dogsled Tours, as seen on the TV show "Live with Kelly", is the only dogsledding company that operates within Banff National Park, along the Continental Divide. Relax in the sled or take a turn of driving a dog sled team.
Snowy Owl Dogsled Tours
This company will pick you up in Banff or Canmore for a dog sledding experience in the Spray Lakes/Goat Creek area near Canmore, outside Banff National Park.
