The Pelican Bar is located near Jake's, a boutique hotel run by the Island Outpost group.

You will be met on the beach by your boat captain, and he will take you on a very relaxing ride in a large wooden boat. You may be lucky enough to see dolphins swimming right near the boat. Your "captain" will then make a call to the bar to find out what the choices for lunch will be...probably lobster, or fish - small choice, but it's all good.

All the food they serve is caught fresh right before you eat it. The lobster is a good option if they have it, but be prepared to wait a long time for it (it's worth it, though).  They remove the lobster from the shell and serve it in a ginger sauce with vegetables over white rice.

As far as the bar itself, it has to be the coolest "bar" in the Caribbean.  It's in the middle of a sandbar, round in shape, and made completely of driftwood. Bring a sharp object and you can carve your name in the floor. It is not a place for older people, because you have to climb "stairs" made of twisted wood and it can be tricky.

You'll spend about 3 hours there, drinking red stripe beer, laying on the "dock" area getting sun and you may go snorkeling if you like.

Bottom line... don't miss it! It could be one of your best memories in Jamaica.
