Below is a very simple map of Negril and a description of the major locations on the map.

Highway A1 comes from Montego Bay and Lucea in the upper right of the map. After highway A1 passes the town of Orange Bay, located on Orange Bay, it crosses the Orange River (top center of the map).

Next is Bloody Bay. Bloody Bay, about 2 miles long with a great sand beach, is the first of two sections of 7 Mile Beach and is the start of Negril. South of Bloody Bay is Rutland Point which is about 200 yards across. Rutland Point, which has a rocky shoreline, contains two small private beaches while the beach on Bloody Bay is open to the public. The Negril Airport is located on the east side of the road at Rutland Point.

South of Rutland Point is Long Bay, the second section of 7 Mile Beach. Long Bay is about 5 miles long and is a sandy public beach. At the south end of Long Bay highway A1 crosses the Negril River and ends at the junction (the Negril roundabout) with highway A2 in downtown Negril. Highway A2 runs east out of Negril, from the roundabout, in the direction of Savana-la-Mar.

Note: 7 Mile Beach is made up of the beach on Bloody Bay plus the beach on Long Bay. The two beaches total 7 miles in length.

From the roundabout (the junction of highways A1 and A2) in downtown Negril, the West End Road runs west and then curves south along the top of the cliffs first passing South Negril Point and then passing the Negril Lighthouse. The Negril Lighthouse is a little over 3 miles from downtown Negril (the roundabout). There very little usable beach (and that only in the first 3/4 mile) and very limited public access to the sea between the Negril River and the Negril Lighthouse. Between downtown Negril and the Negril Lighthouse the cliffs, which start about 1 mile from the roundabout, are up to 40 feet high and offer views of the sea.

Hotels, bars, restaurants, shops, etc. are located from the north end of Bloody Bay south to downtown Negril and on south past the Negril Lighthouse. Many are located between the road (highway A1 or the West End Road) and the ocean. Some hotels, bars, restaurants, shops, etc. are located on the inland side of the road. Hotels on the inland side of the road may or may not have access to the water.

The area from the north end of Bloody Bay and downtown Negril (the roundabout) is often referred to as the 'beach area'. The area south of downtown Negril towards the Negril Lighthouse is often referred to as the 'cliffs' or the 'west end'.
