There are numerous things to see and do in and around Negril. Various tour companies can take you to some or all of the places listed below. Some tour companies will combine several of the points of interest listed into a single tour. Tours for the sights listed can last from an hour or so to a whole day. Negril Lighthouse - The Negril Lighthouse is located on the West End Road just south of Rick's Cafe. The lighthouse was built in 1894 with its light about 100 ft above sea level.
Shopping - Take a bus to downtown Negril for shopping at the Negril Craft Market and one or more other stores. Additional shopping is available at the Rutland Point Craft Market located next to the Negril airport and between Long Bay and Bloody Bay. See also http://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g14... Other major places to shop in Negril are the Times Square Mall on the beach road north of the roundabout, the Plaza de Negril and Coral Seas Plazas both of which are next to the roundabout, and the Negril Vendors Plaza and the Sunshine Village Plaza which are on the West End Road a short distance west of the roundabout. All of the places listed contain multiple shops offering a range of goods.
Parasailing - Several operators will pick you up at your hotel (pier or beach) for parasailing on Long Bay or Bloody Bay. Enjoy great views of Negril as you sail above the water.
Kool Runnings Water Park - Kool Runnings, located at the north end of Long Bay, is home to a large water park. There are 10 water slides, a quarter mile of lazy river, and a 'island' with games for the kids. Food is available at this family friendly park.
Rhodes Hall Arawak Cave - Transfers to Rhodes Hall, just a few miles east of Negril, then go underground into the Arawak Cave. See where the original inhabitants of Jamaica lived over 500 years ago. In the mile long cave see drawings and markings, stalactites, stalagmites, an underground lake, and thousands of Jamaican bats hanging upside down from the limestone cavern.
YS Falls - YS Falls is a 120-foot cascading waterfall amid 2,000 acres of pasture are located on a privately owned estate, owned by the same family for over a century and where thoroughbred race horses and purebred Jamaica Red cattle are reared. The falls, unlike the Dunn's River Falls, are unspoiled and kept in a natural environment friendly state, the only modifications made are the footpaths along the falls and natural swimming pool. You will be taken to the falls by means of tractor pulled jitney trough the fields.
Chukka Blue Horseback Riding - Transfer to Chukka Blue, located near Sandy Bay about on hour east of Negril, for a guided horseback tour from mountain to sea, past ruins of Blue Hole Estate and Great House.
Catamaran Cruises - Take a sail on a catamaran from various hotels on the beach road to the westend of Negril. This is the location of the famous Negril cliffs and caves. Snorkeling, open bar, live reggae sessions, cliffs and cave exploring are normally offered. Some cruises stop at Rick's Cafe. Some catamaran cruises are clothing optional.
Wild Thing is an independent catamaran cruise - one of the first in Negril and the best established. Their location is by Chances on the Long Bay beach. The Wild Thing does day cruises with destinations to Half Moon Beach and Rhodes Hall Plantation. Each cruise includes lunch and an open bar. The day cruises stop at the Negril Reef for snorkeling then continue to the destination of the day. The Rhodes Hall cruise offers the option to add horseback riding to your day.
Only one cat cruise is clothing optional and that would be if you were staying at Hedonism and did their sunset cruise.
Sunset Cruise - This is normally a booze cruise from various hotels on the beach road to Rick’s Cafe. Return to the beach road hotels is scheduled for just after sunset. Much like the catamaran cruise listed above but just later in the day.
Deep Sea Fishing - Several operators offer full or half days of deep sea fishing on a large fishing boat. The price normally includes Captain and First mate, a cooler of soft drinks and/or beer, fishing rods, bait, and tackle.
Jungle River Tubing - Transfer to the Great River near Montego Bay. Then take a guided tube ride down the gentle rapids of the Great River. The Great River is located a little over one hour east of Negril between Sandy Bay and Montego Bay.
Canopy Zipline - Transfer to the Great River a little over one hour east of Negril between Montego Bay and Sandy Bay. Then get hoisted by pulleys into the canopy of the trees overlooking the Great River. Experience nine traverses with intermittent nature walks on creatively designed courses. You will cross springs, the Great River and a 150-year-old dam. The experience of gliding silently through a tunnel of tree leaves and branches provides the ultimate rush for the adventurous spirit.
Black River - This tour includes a boat safari of the crocodile filled Black River. The boat tours start from the town of Black River located about 90 min. south east of Negril.
Appleton Estate Tour - Following a ride to the estate you will visit the famous rum distillery and aging-house tours with free rum samplings at the end of the tour. The estate is located about an hour east of Negril.
Mayfield Falls - Take a bus to Mayfield Falls about one hour east of Negril. Then take a guided tour of falls and the nearby Bamboo Village, bubbling natural Jacuzzi, mineral springs and underwater cave.
Great River Rafting for two - Transfer to the quaint village of Lethe and the Great River Valley located a bit over one hour east of Negril between Montego Bay and Sandy Bay. There a 30-foot long bamboo raft for two is waiting. The Great River is known for the its lush vegetation, tropical flowers, and birds.
Discovery Falls - This attraction is located in Sheffield just east of Negril. It features a range of activities including a natural spring that pumps out 2000 gallons of water every second, a pool, a lazy river, a short zipline tour (two lines), a stage for entertainment, a restaurant and a bar. It also offers a great view of the Negril wetlands (the Great Morass) through which the Negril River runs.
Martha Brae Rafting for two - Transfer to Falmouth, to the East of Montego Bay, followed by a 30-foot bamboo raft for two down 3 miles of the Martha Brae river. You can also visit the herb garden near the river. Restaurant and bar service is also available.
Dolphin Cove Packages - Dolphin Cove has two locations in Jamaica: Lucea and Ocho Rios. Various packages are available at both locations. The packages include transfers plus interaction with the dolphins and sharks (various options are offered). Packages to the Ocho Rios location take all day while the packages to the Lucea can be done in half a day.
Dunn's River Falls - This full day excursion includes transfers and a visit to Dunn’s river falls. The falls are located just west of Ocho Rios.
Blue Hole Mineral Springs - The Blue Hole Mineral Spring is a unique water attraction located in the hills about 25 minutes east from Negril near the small community of Brighton. It is centered around a mineral spring about 25 feet under ground that you can jump into the springs or just climb into. The mineral spring also features an adjacent swimming pool which is fed from the spring. The Blue Hole Mineral Spring remains open until dark while the bar serves guests late into the evening.
Rockland Bird Sanctuary - The Rockland Bird Sanctuary is located just west of Montego Bay in the little town of Anchovy. Here at the feeding station every afternoon at 2:00pm the birds come to feed. You will see Banana Quits, Hummingbirds (Red-billed Streamer tail and Black billed Streamer tail) and the national bird of Jamaica, the Doctor Bird. If you are lucky a hummingbird might land on your finger and feed from a bottle of sugar water.
Half Moon Beach - This is a quiet private beach with a bar and restaurant. Located near the town of Green Island, this is a place to go to just relax. Casual and rustic, you can get away from Negril and its beach vendors.
Rhodes Hall Horseback Riding - Transfers to Rhodes Hall, just a few miles East of Negril, followed by a horseback tour of several miles of the beach or into the mountains with their bamboo groves.
