Bob Marley Museum

Bob Marley was responsible for bringing Jamaica's distinctive Reggae music and Rastafarian culture to the world. This house where Bob Marley once lived and where he founded his record label Tuff Gong is now a museum devoted to his memory. This is the most-visited attraction in Kingston. It features Marley artifacts, memorabilia, writings, photographs and mementos. The museum is open Monday through Saturday for a series of one-hour tours beginning at 9:30 am, with the last tour beginning at 4 pm. Tickets cost 500 Jamaican dollars, or about 7.50 US dollars. Reductions are available for groups, children and students.

  Jamaica National Gallery

This museum focuses on the Jamaican school of native-born artists. Most famous of these is probably Edna Manley, a sculptor, whose work includes Ghetto Mother and the 1922 Bead Seller. Also included are the Larry Worth collection of African-style sculpture and paintings, which fills one entire gallery. The museum is air conditioned, which can be an asset during the warmest days. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, opening later and closing earlier on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are 50 Jamaican Dollars, or J10 for children.
