Barbados is a small island in the West Indies.  It is 21 x 14 miles.  It has an all year round good climate but the hurricane season tends to be from September through to the end of November. Luckily for us, we are never directly struck by hurricanes. Last time it happened was in 1951. The main tourist season is November to mid-April. That is when the hotels are bursting at their seams and you can't get reservations to some of the best restaurants.

It is a beautiful island with white sands and azure blue seas.  The West coast is the Caribbean Sea and quite calm but on the East you can experience the wild waves of the Atlantic - popular with surfers, but not safe to swim.

The people are welcoming, kind and helpful and have a very 'Christian' approach to life.

Barbados is an island of extremes from the very wealthy to what we would consider to be poor housing and facilities.  The roads are a challenge and as there are very few road signs, every trip is an adventure!  They drive on the left like the UK.

Whilst tending towards a reputation for the rich and famous, you can eat at some of the best restaurants and stay at some of the best hotels anywhere, many holiday makers can enjoy a good value holiday whilst indulging in the occasional bit of luxury.

Barbados is the hub of almost all Caribbean activity. Whether it be our airport, or someplace with the UN Headquarters or the US Embassy.
