The motel service was very helpful, especially given that all staff encountered could speak English (we're from England).
Staff professionally assisted with the slightest problem. Whilst free Internet wireless did not cover the furthest reachest of the motel wing, it was in the end nonetheless accessed down in the bar area whilst enjoying a hot cup of chocolate.
I certainly liked my scambled eggs/bacon/sausages available in the morning along with other continental and German options, including fruit, croissants, varied beverages, etc. Breakfast does change based on the predominance of traveller types and numbers, so essentially they cater to demand, which is great.
We frequently walked into the centre of Peine (2km) which was a nice walk in the snow, unbelievably. Taxis were available when time limitations or tiredness prevailed. Nigh on 5-6 Euros would get you to the town centre. If you ever land in Peine late at night at the train station, and there are no taxis lined up, walk west about 50 yards from the northern platform, and you will find a taxi office where a fellow controls his cars. He'll let you wait there for a taxi in the warmth. The night we were there, he made us a cuppa coffee. He spoke English, (studying a special ed. teaching degree) and was a mine of information regarding the locality, in addition to being friendly and curteous. Congratulations, Peine, on this informal tourist promoter.
Only certain motel rooms contained kettles for making a cuppa coffee so if this is important to you, ensure you ask for a room with kettle for coffee making facilities. This did not worry us as we drank so much of the stuff during the day that we loved the water at day's end. There are many German TV free to air channels to choose from on the TV with one American and one English news service (CNN & BBC).
Overall, a very pleasant stay. I would recommend this very clean motel with warm rooms to anyone anytime. Whilst freeway (autobahn) and local highway traffic can also access the hotel with ease given its location, we proved that as a car-less couple, this hotel was suitable for use as a base.
McDonalds is located about three hundreds yards away (east), along with a Lilo supermarket. There is also a very small one room pub150 yards north of the motel (on west side of main road) run by a lovable character who, it seems according to the photos on his pub wall, has been there quite a number of years. In addition to German beer, he carries some basic spirits. This is a pub with atmosphere and history and appealed to us as we became friendly with the natives and local history. Peine itself, a town of around 50,000, is interesting and has a good central shopping area.
Cheers.
