“horribly disappointing”

We had reserved a room for our wedding night, thinking that hotel was a perfect place. What a disappointment !
The room was not made, no breakfast was left for us the next morning in spite of the promise (we had warned we wouldn't get up before 10 after wedding party)...
When we gave back the keys we were told that's no 5 star hotel so we shouldn't complain, and I had to jump over the wall to open the gate for our car because no one cared about opening...
Apparently that's the quality of service you have to expect.

“Very Pleasant Independent Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2010

A bit hard to find the entrance as it is through a gate with a buzzer, but this place was a very nice stop off for us. It has picturesque gardens with an outside pool. They own a greyhound which is very friendly and they do permit animals. The service offering was simple but high quality. Our room was very large and the bathroom was bigger than some other hotel bedrooms I have stayed in.

I loved the curtains and wooden shutters as they meant the room was really dark and we got a great night's sleep.

The had a baby cot but, oddly, no high chair so we didn't have an evening meal and breakfast was a matter of having my son on my lap.

Breakfast was served in "the orangery" - a big conservatory - very nice providing you dont mind socialising with the other guests as it was arranged a bit like a school dining room with a couple of long tables that all the guests sat at.

All in all, a very pleasant place with friendly, English speaking owners.
