“Inspirational - a lovely place to stay”

After a rather tedious journey up from London, my boyfriend and I stayed in the Wood-cutter's cottage and arrived to a welcome hamper and a fridge stocked with much-needed milk, tea and coffee. The farm itself is really inspirational and the cottage was lovely - lots of period features but all the modern requirements in the kitchen and (what looked to be new) bathroom. The owners were very friendly and we wandered down to the local pub (called the Red Pump Inn) where the food was utterly delicious and the meat was all organically reared - but I would definitely recommend booking in advance, as we didn't and had to sit in the bar.
Overall though a really lovely place to stay!

“A great place if you like peace and quiet and comfort”

We stayed at the Saddle Barn, which is situated by the small river that runs through the farm. The house is a "barn" conversion, which is joined to the other self-catering accommodation. The house consists of a lovely living room with 3 sofas, wooden floor, dining table and tv - kitchen, quite small but well equipped (electric oven) - downstairs loo.

Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms - one double ensuite (shower) and two with two single beds each and a separate bathroom (shower and bath).

There is a decked area by the cottage overlooking the stream and fields which is great for relaxing and watching wildlife.

The cottage itself is in a courtyard which borders on the farmyard, though it is well kept and opposite the Clough Bottom offices. The farmhouse itself is beautiful and the offices a nice conversion.

We had some problems with the Wi-fi, which is a bit more important these days when we all like to keep in touch and check local info on the web, but they let us use their facilities. Better access to washing machines would be good.

The little hamper was a very nice touch - lovely teabread, jam and chutney. Its a great location, about a mile from the Red Pump Inn (very nice pub, a bit gastro but good) and about 15 mins from Clitheroe which is a great little town.

“A wonderful visit to the beautiful country.”

A friend had organised for us to stay at Clough Bottom, she was visiting family in the area of Clitheroe. I had a lovely surprise when we arrived at the charming restored Coach House. We had a divine welcome basket of organic goodies, with milk & cheese in the fridge, perfect for the Australian wine we brought with us! The facilities were fantastic and the "special touches" of fresh flowers & bathroom treats made our stay very relaxing. The information provided in regards to the attractions, where to eat, shopping facilities etc was very useful. Lots to see & do, but it was sometimes hard to drag ourselves out.... as the serenity of the organic farm was too inviting.

They also have conference & hi -tech training facilities that allow business people to refresh their minds in a uniquely stimulating setting. Our 5 days seem to slip by far too quickly. All cottages have a 4* award from "Visit Britain".

  • Liked — It had all of the trimmings of home, with a touch of class.
  • Disliked — There was no waiter!!
  • Tips/Secrets — Come armed with food & drinks as you wouldn't want to leave for a few days.
