“Needs updating and some tender loving care!”

We stayed at Moore Place for one night and i am grateful i didnt have to stay any longer. We had booked a newly refurbished contempory room but the hot water was broken in this block so we were given a room in the cottage.
The room was very dated, we only had a bath with no shower. The cold water ran extremely hot, i almost scolded my hand at one point. It was interesting cleaning my teeth it boiling hot water.
The bed required a new mattress, i spent the evening feeling like a was rolling inwards and not by choice. The room was really hot and there was no drinking water provided, a basic requirment of any guest.
Breakfast was very good and the staff were friendly, this hotel needs to be have some money spent on it to make it worth the £80 per night we paid.
I wouldnt stay here again.

“A quiet retreat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

Stayed on a 3 nights for the price of 2 offer and was delighted with the value for money. The hotel stands in its own grounds just off the village square so is quite secluded. Rooms are in either the 2 storey main building or the annexe. The room and bathroom were of ample proportions and kept very clean. Couldn't find much to fault except for some slightly clanky plumbing and the lack of a thermostat so that maintaining a comfortable room temperature on cold nights entailed much juggling of radiator valve and window. Windows were well sealed and there wasn't any problem with traffic noise.

Cooked breakfasts are prepared to order and served attentively in generous proportions in the conservatory overlooking the rear patio and ornamental pond. I can imagine it being a pleasant area to relax on summer evenings. There's a residents bar next to reception.

Aspley Guise is a quiet residential village with a pub, a church and a Thai restaurant but little else of note. There are pleasant walks nearby but take a torch if you go out on winter nights as there isn't much street lighting. Woburn Sands a mile away has more facilities, or the main centre at Milton Keynes is 5 miles away. Trains on the Bedford to Bletchley line stop at Aspley Guise station - except on Sundays when there is no service. In a former life the village served as a billet for Bletchley Park codebreakers.

“Lovely place!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

Stayed here for two weeks on business trip. Place is very nice and staff very helpful. Our room was in the main house and face the square and was roomy with nice large bathroom. Only complaint is room 7 extremely hot! Not warm but hot and outside temperature was in the 40's and 50's and our room was like a boiler room. Took several request to get a fan but lucky my local office had large fan to help get us pass first few nights. Lobby, bar, restaurant were are excellent and Don was always a great host! Love the charm of the place and sitting outside at night (letting the room cool down) chatting with the ducks. Not a lot of places to eat around the place but short drive to shops and restaurants. Again stayed ten nights and three were hardship with the heat otherwise would been excellent rating.

Room Tip: Beware of room 7 can be very warm at night. I heard others in rooms next to us 4,5,6 mention same is...

“Good hotel but avoid dinner.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

We stayed here for one night. Convenient for M1 with plenty of parking. Very pleasant hotel. Reception very welcoming. Room 34 excellent -- well appointed, clean and with a pleasant view.
Housekeeping failed to provide tea/coffee/milk/biscuits; however, this was quickly remedied by reception. Decided to have dinner in the restaurant. This was a mistake. Choice quite limited and the food was not of reasonable quality. Starters were cold. Main courses seemed to be an attempt at nouvelle cuisine but with no flair and since there was so little food very poor value for money. One main consisted of a tiny steak (overcooked), three small pieces of carrot and two small new potatoes sliced and placed round the plate. A request for french fries was declined. After this we decided to forgo the sweet.
The only plus point was the wine (good value) and the waiters (excellent and attentive).
Breakfast was quite different and good value.
I have given this 4 stars because the hotel is on the whole a very pleasant place to stay. I would certainly stay again and find somewhere else to eat nearby.
