“A night at Brighton”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

We discovered the Brighton Savoy during the 2012 Australian Open as none of the city hotels offered reasonable and available accommodation. Apart from the shower (on the gound floor) and the carpark door closing late and opening early we thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay. A walk on the beach and a fantastic meal - with the sunset - in the hotel restaurant proved to be a memorable occasion. The Brighton Savoy hotel staff were top class - in a better room with a better shower we will be back! (r&j)

Room Tip: Choose a room away from the gound rear garage door and one with a decent shower

“Not for a quiet night in...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Came for our wedding anniversary. Checked in and our room was obviously previously interconnecting as it had a door to the next room. Could hear the exact conversations next door. Called reception to see if we could change but hotel was full. Night time came we could hear all the smokers on the balcony near the room and until midnight booming music from the function in the gala room on the ground floor (we were on level 2). Even called reception to see if they had ear plugs which they didn't. Breakfast was ok nothing special and was included in our deal, would not have been happy if you paid the $24! Also free champagne in the deal we asked for soft drink instead but request went ignored.

Would be ok place to stay if you were attending the function, definitely not for a private, quiet weekend away.

“No hot water”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

Paid $150 per night and were checked into the last room at the end of the corridor on the ground floor, overlooking the carpark entrance. No hot water for morning shower on the first morning. Were told to run shower for 7-8 minutes; we ran it for 20 and finally some hot water came through. What a dreadful waste of water! No hot water on second morning. No more than a "sorry". I cannot understand how a hotel can charge a standard rate for a room without basic amenities. What a dampner on our Christmas holiday!

Dear Brisbanier

I apoligise for your experience of issues with Hot water during your stay with us over the Christmas Period.

The Hotel did have a issue with hot water in one section of the hotel, which was identified during the Christmas Period. . Every endevour was made to recitify the issue, as soon as possible.

I am happy to advise that the issue has been remedied.

My family have owned our hotel for the last 44 years and we make every endevour to do our best to ensure that our guests enjoy their stay, unfortunately some things do remain beyond our control. and I am disappointed that this impacted your stay with us.

I do hope next time you are in the area and require accommodation you will again consider the Brighton Savoy

The beach opersite the hotel is brilliant...very clean.
The hotel is a short walk away from shops & restaurants in church street & the train station so it is very easy to get to melbourne cbd flinders street station.

“Ok if you need to stay in Brighton. If not go to the city”

We stayed here as part of a scoopon deal. It was $145 for a ocean view room, buffet b'fast, champagne and choc dipped strawberries on arrival with late check out. Room was tired. Choc dipped strawberries we're full of grit. We didn’t eat them. B'fast was terrible. I've seen rubber balls with less bounce in them than the scrambled eggs I ordered! They advertised it as a 'buffet' but it was closer to what you'd expect at a Best Western. In fact I'm sure I've had better b'fasts at Best Westerns...The 'buffet' consisted of cereal, toast and yoghurt. I wouldn’t stay there again or recommend it and thankfully we didn’t pay full price for it. The only plus I have for this place is the service. The service was great.

Room Tip: Dont stay at all...
