“Worst Trip Ever!! Dont waste your money and time here!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011

For the first time we booked a trip with Corendon who has a terrible client service in The Netherlands and in Turkey. I must say that I disliked the service very very much. My boyfriend and I traveled to Turkey and stayed at the Mucaranas Hotel. The hotel staff at the reception at our arrival had a "don't care & dont botter me attitude". Also, I'd like to draw your attention to the following:

- first room we got it had a terrible smell combined with smoke. Went to reception and got the answer that all rooms are the same. After a long discussion finally got another room.

- the wc in the room got broken and it wasn't fixed until two visits to reception and long explanations.

- Ahmet cevic barmen is a waiter at the beach bar who several times made fun of us and gave us a rude attitude all the time even when the guest relation manager talked to his manager. He got annoyed with us because we didnt ask for drinks in turkish. Had to address this issue more than two times and actually contacted our corendon person Ramadán cagan, who took the note but never called back to give an update.

- submitted all our complains to the hotel but they said there was nothing to do and assumed that the same applied for corendon since never heard from him.

- The hotel stakeholders in general had a very rude attitude. There were only a few who really took the effort to serve you.

- nothing was really done for us in order to compensate that they ruined our vacation and the fact the we spent more time at reception for fixing "problems". They just don't care about customers. Also nothing was offered by our contact from corendon.

- in our last night we had to call back our contact person from corendon since there was no bus schedules I'm the information wall. He referred us to the reception. So basically no good service received at all.

- in our way back, the employees at the Corendon flights had similar attitude. Next to us there was a colleague of them. And they did everything they could to please him while the attitude to customers was fake and forced.

We are extremely unhappy with the service of Mucaranas hotel and the corendon hotel. The only thing that worked properly and fast was the recollection of our money for the vacation.

I've travel around the world several times for work and fun during the year and never experienced such a bad service.

It didn't felt like vacation at all since we had to deal all the time with hotel issues, staff issues and corendon lack of information which basically lead to be a self service vacation. This was a full time attention problem/vacation than a relaxed vacation. Certainly very disappointed of the service provided. Back in NL we complained again with Corendon and they made all kind of excuses to not take the responsability. In other words dont waste your money and time in this hotel. It is not our first time in Turkey but probably the last one.

“Great hotel and holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

We stayed in Mukarnas for the first week of September and had an absoultely fantastic time. The hotel was great. Large pool, big waterslides for our older son (7 yrs old) and a great kids pool with mini water slides for our 2 year old. We stayed in a 'junior suite'. Don't be misled by the title, it is just a very big room, but it comfortably accommodated the four of us. Everywhere is very clean and well kept. There is a good gym and spa, with Hamam, which you can either use yourself or book a proper Turkish massage. The hotel grounds are green and well kept and there is an outside auditorium with a different show every night. In addition to the pools there are other things for the children. A relaxed and fun kids club, and a mini disco every evening which our kids really looked forward to (and they are both boys!). The issues some people have talked about with other guests is an interesting one. There were some people in the hotel that conformed to different social standards, but it depends on your attitude. 'Rude' and 'ignorant' people were around, but few and far between. If you are able to smile and shrug it off then you will find that 99% of people in the hotel are no problem at all. If you let it get to you then it could detract from your holiday a little. I would say I experienced bad behaviour a couple of times during the week, both times in the buffet restaurant, but what is the point of letting it spoil an otherwise perfect holiday? On the whole the food was very good, and there is pretty much always something available to eat or drink, no matter the time of day. The popcorn machine by the side of the stage for the evening shows was the sort of really nice touch that lifts your experience. The hotel also has direct access to the 'beach'.

Now, there are a couple of small downsides to this hotel. Firstly the 'beach'. It is very pebbly and the sea becomes very deep very quickly. If you are looking for a holiday where younger kids can dig in the sand and splash in the sea then this is not the place (we would have loved to be able to do this, but the fantastic pools and slides meant we didn't really worry about it). Secondly the buffet restaurant. It did get really busy in the evening, and it could be a bit of a struggle to find a table. Breakfast was never a problem, and there are alternative choices from the main restaurant for lunch. Also, the food servery area was slightly remote from the seating area which meant a bit of walking. With older kids (or no kids) this would not be a problem at all. With young kids it was a little frustrating but, again, not really enough for me to lower my overall rating from 5 out of 5. Finally, you do need to be aware that the transfer time from Antalya Airport is in the region of 2-hours.

To finish on a high, the food was pretty good, very varied, and certainly very plentiful. If you accept it for what it is (a large buffet service), then it is hard to fault. They do also have a la carte restaurants. However, we did not use these as the buffet was still easier with the kids, despite the drawback mentioned above.

All in all excellent. All the family had a brilliant time.

Room Tip: The junior suites are just big rooms, but ample for younger family of four. They do have multi-room...

“Shame”

Everything was ok, until the penultimate day when the expensive Italian shoes were stolen from our room. Theft is a duly registered at the reception, but nobody was paying attention. They did not even apologized. In the summer in this hotel we have invested almost two thousand euros and a shame that someone steals our shoes in such an exclusive hotel. Just wanted to take the money without any liability to guests. Shame!!

All was good until penultimate day, when in the room expensive Italian shoes were stollen. I can not really believe that someone in the hotel that is considered to be exclusive in what we left almost 2 thousand euros, could allow such a failure. Theft was duly reported, but no one responded. Starting from the man at reception that our application was ignored. In the end you acted unprofessionally, nor accept responsibility for your guests, and this is unrespective. As someone of influence in my country, I shall try to continue not advise people to come to your hotel. Shame!
