“Great Place!”

I had the pleasure of staying at the Banarama Dive Resort for the week of Jan23. I stayed in one of their ocean view villas and it was amazing. Travelling with 2 small children, the 2 bedroom villa with kitchen was the perfect amount of space. The front porch with the hammock was perfect place to hang out after the kids went to bed or sit and watch the sunset. I would describe the accommodations as rustic with a lot of character (cool sunken shower inside), and an outside shower with a place to rinse the sand off your feet. It’s not 5 star fancy, but it had everything we needed and felt harmonized with the surroundings.

The Thirsty Turtle restaurant had super friendly staff and a decent sized menu that had some North American basics such as hamburgers & wings, but also had plenty of local fare such as coconut shrimp and local fish. We found the portions quite generous and many times my wife and I would just split one dish. Everyday there was always a lunch, dinner & drink specials (I recommend the drink Monkey La La). They have their own smoker on site for chicken & pork and a wood oven for pizza. At breakfast there was always fresh fruit, cereal, and a different hot dish daily, such as French toast or the local baleadas, and the coffee was great. Every night there was a different theme at the Thirsty Turtle; live performers, karaoke, crab races and the not to be missed amazing fire dancers! Music could be heard from my villa at night but ended promptly at 10pm.

The Banarama Dive shop is second to none, the staff is very professional and accommodating. After my first day diving they were careful to assess and match me to divers of same skill level. I dove with Dorrine and Marco and they were great, they made it a truly exceptional experience. I would highly recommend doing a night dive as the bio-luminescent marine life was truly magical.

Overall we had a great experience, special thanks to Hulio the activities co-ordinator on site who helped us book daily trips and made sure we got the best deal, Carolina of the Thirsty Turtle who took special care of my family and myself, and Suyapa who gave me one of the best massages of my life. I look forward to going back!

“Best dive.”

Just came back from a five day stay and seven dives. After almost twenty years in the service industry, I have seen poor, good, excellent and the bananarama dive service. First and most important, Dorien or Puerta guide is the most professional. Any adjective to describe her job would not be fair, she goes beyond her duties to exceed your expectations. Rooms are good, restaurant service great, waiters the best, Carolina, Jessica and Shina are great. Menu a little poor and breakfast has a lot of opportunity of improving, they need more than a view and good service to meet breakfast expectations: food. Overall, I would go back again and again. I don't think there could be a better place in West Bay. Thank you for working so hard to make people happy, you all surely achieve it. Hope to be back soon.

“A perfect "10"”

Wow, from the moment we arrived everyone at Bananarama was so friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and stocked with everything needed. We loved the hammock on the deck. Loved the palms blowing in the breezes with our view to
the prettiest beach ever!

Food was very good, staff service excellent, especially Jessica whom we luckily had
the pleasure of her service. There are nearby (walking) restaurants that also offer
great food at reasonable prices.

Water temp. was around 75 degrees. It is truly a diving paradise. Every imaginable water sport is available here at very reasonable prices.

We will definitely be back. Oh, did I mention the brick oven fired pizza????

“I'd return, but with changes based on experience.”

This is the first time I've been to Roatan. It was very beautiful. I would return to Bananarama as it is a very laid back, fairly rustic place right on a beautiful beach. The staff is stellar. They go above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable, and have whatever you need. However, I would avoid the room I was in like the plague. (Room 18, - 17 would be as bad. I don't know the room numbers for the second floor.) The room itself was just fine. Very, very clean & comfortable. I loved my porch early in the morning, and the hammock at any time of day. The location was superb with regard to proximity to the beach, the restaurant, etc. but it was also just awful because we were near the public bathroom and public walkway so on but cruise ship days (at least 4 of the days in the first week we were there) there were literally hundreds of people parading past my porch back and forth to the bathroom and the beach. One guy even decided to sit down on my porch while waiting for his ride. The "cruisers" were dropped off right next to my room (exhaust fumes abounded), and waited there to be picked up. The loudness and rudeness of these folks in no way reflects on the Bananarama Staff, who were concerned and apologetic, and have no control over this situation. The "cruisers" also rather take over the beach, so when they're there it is a good idea to take advantage of some of the Island's other attractions. (Although I would suggest that their early morning crews be a bit more respectful of those who like to sleep past 6:00 am. They were pretty loud.) So, while I guess this sounds like a negative review, we had a great time, and I have every intention of returning to BananaRama...I would just ask for a Garden Room, or one off the main path.

Room Tip: Stay away from Rooms on or near the main walkway. Make your plans for dolphin encounter, or seeing...

For location, price, and service, this is the best place to stay on West Bay. We've been to Bananarama with our family 5 times now. We've gone up and down the beach checking out other places to stay on West Bay, but Banarama always wins out. The staff at Bananrama are more flexible and personal than other places and work with us. They make it so our family can keep coming back year after year. And a delicious hot breakfast and fresh fruit juice is included, which really helps out with the family budget. You won't regret staying at Banarama. We've made many happy family memories there.
