I came to Kamari Bay Hotel for a 2 week holiday in the beginning of June. My partner and I were looking for a super cheap holiday in the sun - and that is definitely what we got (in a good way).
On out late arrival we were greeted by the receptionist and directed to our room, which was in a separate part of the hotel - a block of 6 rooms.
As we booked a few days before departure we weren't sure whether we could get our preferred "Sea View" room, but once we woke in the morning, we found we had the most fabulous view of the bay, and if you were up early enough, the sun rising out of the sea!
Room: we had two single beds, sheets and pillows were changed every other day, dressing table, balcony with seating, large wardrobes.
En-suite: very basic but clean; toilet, wash basin and shower. The toilet paper cannot be flushed so needs to be binned (which is a bit gross, but the bins are emptied every day). If you are/were a student and have lived in halls - it's very much like halls en-suites.
Breakfast is served around 7-10 on weekdays, and 8-10 on Sunday. Breakfast is either a bread roll, sweet bread, toast and other bread products with a pat of butter and jam/marmalade. Served with orange juice and tea or coffee.
The swimming pool is one of the largest in the area, and is fresh water - no sore eyes and dry skin. It has a baby pool and the larger pool which goes to about 2m. There are sun beds and plenty of parasols and gazebos. Inside the pool enclosure is a pool house - serving drinks (hot and cold) and food (lunches including sandwiches, chips, kebab meat etc, and ice creams).
The owner is a vivacious soul who is always happy to chat and ask how you're enjoying your stay.
The hotel is good for any group of people - probably not business. But friends, family and couples seem to be the majority of the population.
Air conditioning is available AT A COST. We never bothered with it, but if you go for keeping the door open (onto the balcony) beware of the midges! They are tenacious. Take plenty of bug repellant and I'd recommend a plug-in or an box of incense repellants too.
