“Good for the price”

We have stayed at this hotel in July 2011.
Kamari bay is a basic hotel and you get what you have paid for.
Do not expect too much as you will be disappointed.
The hotel location is really good as its close to the bars, shops and the beach however kefalos is not a lively place and after 2 nights you get really bored as there is nothing to do.
The service isnt great as the owner Yanis is a little bit moody and just wants your money however Tony the bar man is really friendly and helpful.
The cleanless is on average .. we found a lot of hair in bathroom.
The beds are really uncomfortable and there is no double beds.
Breakfast - terrible.. only a tiny portion of selected food.
Wouldnt recommend ...
Not going back.

“Roll on Next Year!!”

Just returned from a week at Kamari Bay, last week of the season (literally - we were the last flight out!). Been to Kefalos many times before but this is the first time at Kamari Bay. Spotlessly clean, rooms very good for Greek accommodation (hairdryer!). There were only 10 of us in the hotel so nice and peaceful. Weather was lovely, 22-23 degrees every day except one. The resort is peaceful and relaxing anyway but the last week of the season is very quiet - not for you if this is not what you like. Yannis the owner was very friendly. Yes, breakfast is a bit of a letdown, but this is Greece! Tony the barman is also very friendly. Our only thought is that the bar could be quite clicky in the summer months. Would definitely return to Kos, and Kamari Bay again. Another fabulous holiday in Kefalos!!!

Room Tip: Not near the bar if you are planning to go in the summer

“Fab Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

This was our 2nd time at this hotel and it was as relaxing as ever. We had 8 nights here at the end of the season and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Rooms were very clean and towels and sheets were changed regularly. Yannis the owner was chatty and amiable as was Tony the barman. The resort was very quiet as it was the last week but there were still plenty of restaurants to choose from. Weather was a bit mixed but still much better than the uk! We hired a car and saw the sights of the island. If a relaxing break is on your agenda this is definitely the place to go!

“karmari bay hotel & Kefalos”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

We recently returned from Kos and our stay at the karmari bay hotel in Kefalos. Unfortunately we started in a room next to the bar, which kept us awake until 3am! Even though the clientele were not young! Eventually it went quiet, then the new arrivals arrived at 4am and we thought here we go again, suitcases being dragged along the corridors, shouting to one another about their rooms, thought we were living a nightmare! We are not party poopers but sadly just a few people forgot respect for others. When we mentioned this to the owner, he said british people do not respect each other! We were moved to a room overlooking the pool after 2 days (only there for a week!) which was nice. As the week went on things settled down, room very clean and typically greek, generally the hotel was OK, but not with a room by the bar. Breakfast, well not a lot to say about this really, but the breakfast across the road was lovely. We enjoyed the slow pace of Kafalos and some of the great value restaurants, and would certainly go again, but perhaps to another hotel. (could not go back anyway as the hotel is no longer available in any of the brochures). We enjoyed our stay in Kefalos, it was a cheap last minute holiday and we were pleasantly surprised, great location.

Room Tip: Make sure you are not near the bar area, although only a small bar it was noisy late at night.

“Wonderful budget get-away”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2011

I came to Kamari Bay Hotel for a 2 week holiday in the beginning of June. My partner and I were looking for a super cheap holiday in the sun - and that is definitely what we got (in a good way).

On out late arrival we were greeted by the receptionist and directed to our room, which was in a separate part of the hotel - a block of 6 rooms.

As we booked a few days before departure we weren't sure whether we could get our preferred "Sea View" room, but once we woke in the morning, we found we had the most fabulous view of the bay, and if you were up early enough, the sun rising out of the sea!

Room: we had two single beds, sheets and pillows were changed every other day, dressing table, balcony with seating, large wardrobes.
En-suite: very basic but clean; toilet, wash basin and shower. The toilet paper cannot be flushed so needs to be binned (which is a bit gross, but the bins are emptied every day). If you are/were a student and have lived in halls - it's very much like halls en-suites.

Breakfast is served around 7-10 on weekdays, and 8-10 on Sunday. Breakfast is either a bread roll, sweet bread, toast and other bread products with a pat of butter and jam/marmalade. Served with orange juice and tea or coffee.

The swimming pool is one of the largest in the area, and is fresh water - no sore eyes and dry skin. It has a baby pool and the larger pool which goes to about 2m. There are sun beds and plenty of parasols and gazebos. Inside the pool enclosure is a pool house - serving drinks (hot and cold) and food (lunches including sandwiches, chips, kebab meat etc, and ice creams).

The owner is a vivacious soul who is always happy to chat and ask how you're enjoying your stay.

The hotel is good for any group of people - probably not business. But friends, family and couples seem to be the majority of the population.

Air conditioning is available AT A COST. We never bothered with it, but if you go for keeping the door open (onto the balcony) beware of the midges! They are tenacious. Take plenty of bug repellant and I'd recommend a plug-in or an box of incense repellants too.
