“Serene & Romatic Winter Getaway”

I cannot recommend this resort enough. My boyfriend and I got it through Dealfind and hoped for the best. What we got was so much more! Our charming room came with a fireplace and we upgraded to a lakeview room with jacuzzi. Our first night there we took full advantage of the outdoor hot tub under the stars and the sauna they warmed up for us. They provided us with a map and had excellent recommendations of things to do in the area including going for dinner in Bobcageyon and visiting a nearby native craft shop (must see). They have free skates to skate on the lake, free cross country skis and free snowshoes for the pretty trails around the area, which we took full advantage of. We were given a free bottle of wine each night with the deal and the extra pancakes we ordered on top of our included breakfast each morning - they comp'd. We booked dinner at their Tree Top restaurant and the food was incredible. Huge portions and every dish was just as good as the next. We wished we'd booked both dinners there. I read that someone found the food boring - I don't know if the chef has changed since then, but everyone else in the restaurant was also raving about how great it was. We were also impressed that the menu said "It is our honour to serve you - please no tipping".

The staff could not have been more friendly or giving. Nothing was an issue. We had a problem with our fireplace and it was fixed immediately. They treated us like extended family and seemed very happy to have us there. Passing any of them on the resort grounds, they were always happy to see us. When we asked if we could extend our checkout an hour, they said we could stay for two. When we were leaving one of their staff appeared out of no where to help us with our bags.

My boyfriend and I are world travellers, so we've stayed in many, many different place. This really was one of the best experiences we've had for a long weekend and we haven't stopped talking about it. I've been recommending this place to everyone I know.

Room Tip: Recommend a lakeview room, however there isn't much need for the jacuzzi since they have an outd...

“Winter Bliss!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

We went to Westwind Inn during the first week in January and it was absolute bliss! Being Torontonians it was wonderful to finally see the stars for once, and just listen to the absolute quiet of the night. We were the only ones at the entire resort (winter really is their quiet time) and we were left with complete use of the sauna, massage table, and hot tub.
The Chalets are by far the most beautiful rooms, so if your plan is to spend most of your time in your room, go for the Chalet. We got a Lakeside Jacuzzi room (not a chalet), which was wonderful, but we wish we opted for the Queen rather than the "Continental King" size bed, which was just two singles pushed together. We found someone always ends up sleeping on the crack between the beds.
The food was good and they were able to accommodate to our vegetarian meal restrictions, however I'm not sure what they would have done for breakfast if we were vegans (nor would I have been too happy to pay $15 for breakfast if they didn't have some kind of alternative protein other than meat). Although the food was good for Us, that was the one thing I didn't think was worth the price as they charge a lot for their meals.
During the day we drove out to see the Warsaw Caves for an adventure (about 15 min South West, if I remember correctly). Bring hiking boots, rope, and a flashlight. You won't need the rope, but it's better to be safe than sorry. Of course, in the winter, you can't expect to do much climbing, and I can imagine if there was more ice than snow it could have been slippery, but to sit by a half frozen brooke surrounded by sparkling fluffy snow and chirping birds was worth the slight hike.
We did a lot of comparing with the resorts / inns in the area, and West Wind was definitely the best value, and seems more like a little known hidden gem than the other resorts.

Room Tip: Lake view rooms have the most beautiful view, and if you choose any room in hall 1-8, you'll see...

“Not worth the money”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2011

I was here for a wedding in September and let me tell you, the customer service and value was sub-par. Absolutely terrible. It ended up costing almost $400 per night because of the dummy fees. They add 10% "facilities" fee on your stay, but not just on your room, on all the fees (taxes, breakfast). Not only that, it was actually 12% not 10% When we raised this to the guy at the front he said "I don't know what you want me to do, I'm just a clerk here"

I guess clerks can't do grade school math?

Another issue was the quality of the room. We were "upgraded" to a "suite" that had a noisy and uncomfortable bed, thin walls and a dirty bathroom. I could hear people in the room above having sex at 3AM. Good thing my kids were not there! We also had a fireplace that didn't work.

The icing on the cake. I was there for one night and my wife three nights. I don't know why but they charged me for my breakfast for all three nights instead of one night.

When I brought this up to the owner the response I got was: " you will have to bring that up with the bride because we already ordered your food in". I was amazed by this response which was from the owner. As if I was going to tell the newly married couple the resort was terrible.

If just one person eliminates this resort from their wedding or travel plans based on this review I will be satisfied. No bride wants the guest to remember their wedding as a terrible experience because of the poor service and terrible value ofthe "resort"

This entire review is full of untruths. It was a large wedding that took over the entire resort with exclusive use for the entire weekend. It was a great success and everyone including the bride, groom and her parents were very happy and full of compliments. They even had a pig roast & bon fire on the Friday which everyone raved about.

This couple reserved Bed & Breakfast for 3 nights. They did not call to cancel 2 breakfasts.

Everyone in the main lodge (except the 6 jacuzzi suites which are slightly higher) paid the same rate of $175 per night for 2 people + group breakfast which they had to reserve to participate in advance.

This “gentleman” came to the front desk at check out on Sunday and stated that he did not have breakfast because he did not arrive with his wife and demanded that his breakfast charge be removed. We explained that as with most resorts there is no adjustment for missed meals.

He then complained about the Service Charge. We explained a service charge is common in the hospitality industry and is often higher than ours.

It is untrue that they paid $400 per night. The rate was only $175 + breakfast.
The statement that the service fee was 12% is untrue. It is 10% and not on taxes. HST is 13%, no confusion on our end.

In closing everyone staying were billed similar to this “gentleman”, many paying much higher to stay in the Chalet Honeymoon Suites and Jacuzzi suites and expect to pay taxes and service charges.

“A wonderful and romantic get away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

My husband took me to westwind in for our anniversary, and surprised me with an overnight stay in one of their chalets.
It was by far one of the most memorable experiences of my life.
The food was wonderful, the scenery was breath taking and the room was only something I could dream of having in my own home.

I was very impressed by the staff, both on the floor and in the kitchen. They were very helpful and friendly...they were in on the overnight stay surprise with my husband the whole time, and I had no clue.

We will definitely be returning for another stay.

Thank you so much for being such a large part of a wonderful evening.

Thank you
Tanya Crawford

Room Tip: If it's just you and your spouse, pick a chalet :)

“Scenic and peaceful, piece of heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

Needed a break to spoil myself, and my husband. Was greeted with friendly staff who could tell me about the area, what was available. The Inn is well cared for, from the cozy rooms with romantic fireplaces, and some with jacuzzi tubs, to the abundent gardens and breathtaking scenic dining area. With the hustle and bustle of everyday i really didn`t want any loud, people, traffic, events etc. There are acres of beautiful trails to enjoy, biking, skiing, or walking off the meals. We`ve been back for every season at least once....always helpful staff, always something to do...even if its staying in relaxing by candle light with some wine.
We will definately be back...Thanks to the Staff for the well needed break.

Room Tip: The room we saw were all warm cozy and intimate. We`ll definatley make sure to always upgrade to a...
