I recently took an Australian Wine Tour Company tour with a group of work colleagues. Because we organised the tour ourselves, we were able to tailor the day to meet everyone's requests. Along with a couple of wineries (Rochford and Domaine Chandon), we were able to include visits to the Yarra Valley Dairy and Coldstream Brewery.
Our guide, John, taught us some of the basics of wine tasting and was able to tell us about some of the history of the Yarra Valley and its wineries. He was great company and happy to answer our questions.
We had a lovely lunch at Rochford, but the highlight for many of our group was the fudge bar! Be sure not to miss it! And take your camera - there are some beautiful sights in the Yarra Valley and some of our group took some amazing photos.
We had a great day out and, fingers-crossed, we'll do it all again next year!

My wife and I only had 4 days in Melbourne after a few days in Launceston so we organised the Yarra Valley Tour. We were picked up at our city location on time by our driver/guide Simon. The group of people on the tour were very nice and from many different countries. The choice of wineries visited were excellent starting first at Kellybrook where Simon gave us all a quick wine tasting guide. Then onto Rochfords for more tasting and lunch which was organised very well and delicious. Next to Yering Station and finally to Domaine with another very informative session by Simon on the history and making of sparkling wine. All in all a great day and would recommend to anyone visiting Melbourne.

i booked via the internet and had no troubles with this at all. We were picked up as arranged and our small bus of about 20 people travelled out to the Yarra Valley, ably guided by our knowledgeable driver. The day started at 9.30 to get back by around 5.00pm.
We were given tips on how to "taste" wine correctly and what to look for and taste. We found out that the Yarra Valley predominantly produces Chardonnay as well as a number of reds. We did get to sample some Savignon Blancs and sweet dessert wines, and finished at Domaines Chandon where we sampled a glass of the local sparkling - a choice of dry, red or sweeter sparkling wine.
Lunch at Rochfords was excellent - a great plate of food - and sufficient choice from the menu to please most palates.
All in all I would recommend this tour for value and interest.
