Madhu huts are well situated in the middle of the beach (the South end wasn't as pretty or wide, & it's very convenient for the stalls that run behind the beach). We were lucky enough to have a front hut (they're in 2 rows of 6) with full open view of the sea & beach from the hut, & 2 sunbeds out the front, as well as a porch with a table & 2 comfortable chairs.
The hut is a good size & seemed to be bigger than many of the other huts on the beach. It was basic with a large bed & shelves in the main part of the hut, & an attached bathroom with shower, sink, mirror & loo (which all looked offputting but functioned perfectly well). A light in each of the bathroom/main room/porch, a ceiling fan, & hooks/lines throughout for hanging up towels/clothes etc. Window flaps open out the front of the hut & a bowl is supplied on the porch to rinse of the sand from your feet on entering. & a brush is supplied to sweep any errant sand out of the hut. (so overall it was well-appointed for a hut)
Towels & loo roll aren't supplied, but i think can be obtained/hired from Shekhar for shorter stays (we spotted a couple next door who only stayed 1 night do just that). We bought our own cheaply from the stalls behind the beach which stocked everything you might need for your stay. & a mosquito net was supplied, but ours was definitely past its best when we arrived, so we were pleased we took our own.
The hut was cleaned prior to arrival, but not during our stay. The sunbed cushions were collected & distributed at the beginning & end of each day. Staff were always on hand at the entrance to the huts or at the restaurant if you needed to ask anything.
The Madhu restaurant was our preferred restuarant on the beach. It had a quiet, chilled-out atmosphere & a good menu choice & pricing. The food was good (& better than a couple of the other restaurants we tried) - particularly good was the tandoor in the evenings, & the fish.
Shekhar regularly checked we were happy with our stay, & the other staff were also friendly.
Above all Agonda beach is just idyllic, the stuff beach dreams are made of. It's wide & backed with palm trees. Quiet (it's lined with huts but i think not much other accomodation & parking is a problem for daytrippers so there's never too many people there. Palolem in comparison was a massive disappointment).
Don't miss Agonda (or rather do, so that it stays quiet & retains its charm!) & i verily recommend staying at Madhu huts.
