I've been working in India for four months and took this vacation to Goa for 8 days. Madhu arranged a taxi to pick me up at the airport and the owner welcomed me as soon as I arrived, but the congeniality did not stop the entire trip. The entire staff treats you as a friend and is always at your service.
Agonda is an extremely quiet beach, more beautiful than any of the other beaches I witnessed in Goa. The locals are laid back and helpful but they do sell crafts and any comforts you might need from back home. You can rent scooters (recommended) at Madhu or use the tuk tuk that sets up shop outside Madhu to either explore the area or nearby Palolem (10 minutes away).
The beach huts are everything you need to stay comfortable on the beach. Queen size bed with mosquito net in a nice sized room with operable windows and attached bathroom. Theres only 7 huts so theres no problem with privacy or lack of attention. The huts also have an attached front porch, my favorite spot for reading.
The restaurant was awesome. Of course I visited other restaurants in Agonda and Palolem, but it was great to have such good food right at my doorstep whenever I wanted it. The menu had great selection between Indian dishes, Goan dishes, seafood dishes and asian dishes. Half my meals were at Madhu and I didn't eat one thing I did not like, with my toes in the sand staring at the ocean. The staff also special ordered a 1.3 Kg lobster for us to celebrate Christmas. No problem getting a bowl of ice cream with fresh fruit or a cup of coffee late at night either, the staff really does make sure your happy. Cheap drinks as well : )
Overall I felt like I spent a week in paradise with some really great, down to earth people. I couldn't recommend another place to visit or another place to stay. The owner was born and raised in Agonda and he is a great guy to chat with everyday. I hope I can make it back before I leave India.
