“Wonderful place to stay - Pure chill out zone!”

Travelled as couple with a 4 year old little lady. We loved the place, the views were wonderful, just what you'd expect in Tuscany. The sunsets were stunning! Lovely pool with a view! Could not fault our accommodation.Owners on site but only visible if needed. Cingalle and owls are to be heard at night! Very short but extremely windy, hilly road, BUT, once travelled once, you're OK. A few local restuarants worth trying, Il Pettirosso was great with little lady. We didn't get to do some of the other more expensive/elegant restaurants with the little one. Did a day trip by car to Florence, managed it fine. Took a while to park up - drove up a one way onto Santa Croce!!!! Had a well deserved coffee after the reverse - Whew! Restaurant, Pennello on via D. Alighieri was a real find!!! On previous visits to Florence we loved Il Profeta on via Borgognissanti. We spent a night in Pisa and stayed in the Bologna Hotel which was absolutely fine. Don't take the review of this hotel wrong, 4 stars in Italy are not like Ireland or other parts of Europe! We stayed in Grand Duomo previously and it was not as good. The hotel vehicle collected and returned us to the airport for €12 each way! Hotel recommended a nearby restaurant, which we thoroughly enjoyed named Bagus. Wine was great value and there was a Sicilian influence. Del Sole Osteria in Capannoli was wonderful! (As you can read, we adore our food!!!) Lastly, we did a trip to Empoli, it seems to be dancing back at us when map reading - we landed ourselves in another favoured restaurant on this trip, Cucina S.Andrea. If you like to shop, please DONT arrive when the shops close - it was a killer for me, better for the wallet! Hope this all helps. Only warning, don't go to Santa Croce for leather - total waste of time! One way or the other, all going well, you just can't but enjoy Italy, Ciao!

“A relaxing experience in the Tuscany countryside close to Pisa and Volterra”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 April 2010

I have been few times in this agriturismo located near Palaia, close to historical cities like Volterra and Pisa.
There are few apartments fully furbished and selfcontained. Each apartment has its own style with a private patio. You can really feel being at home. I suggest you to try "Il Torchio" where I have been twice so far.
The atmosphere is very relaxing and you can enjoy your staying with daily trips to the historical sites or just walking around surrounded by olive trees.
A good italian dinner in the few nearby restaurants may complete your daily trips.

“Perfect Tuscany experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2009

Our first time in an agriturismo and out of the three we tried on this trip, this is one that we will go back to.
The owners are genuinely welcoming and you feel right at home immediately.
They have spent a lot on converting and fitting out the rooms, quite a five star villa feel, architecture, design and attention to detail excellent.
The lay out of the appartments is particularly clever - you don't really feel you have neighbours.
If anything, it's better than the photos on the website but you get a very good feel of what the place is like and how the individual appartments look from there.
If you are going to be walking or biking from here you need to be fit but it works just as well if you want to go by car.
We did everything - historical city visits, golf, small villages, restaurants - as well as laze by the pool and eat on our own balcony - so it is very centrally located for somewhere that really is in the heart of the country.
The position is quite elevated so not only do you have fantastic views but when there is a breeze you get it - we had 36degrees most days so that was welcome, particularly at night.
You have to search a bit for restaurants and travel but if you combine that with visiting some of the historical stuff it works well. All our meals were excellent - don't miss Il Convio at San Miniato, in fact - don't miss San Miniato itself.
The pool is not very deep which makes it a bit better for young children than swimmers, but we had no real complaints from our two.
Finally - no surcharges or add ons, everything was included in the rate which we appreciated even more when we hit the next place we went to [they charged 5 euros for each use of the washing machine].
Definitely back next year.
