“Loved it!”

We stayed here in our Caravan in January. We were booked in for 3 nights but ended up extending for another night. The caravan Park has an ideal location for those wanting a beach break and wanting to see the dolphins. There is not much to do at the resort itself but we enjoyed spending time on the beach and at the pool. The pool area is lovely and the pool is very shaded (making it quite cold to swim in even in January!) The toilets and showers are very old, they were clean but definately need replacing!! We enjoyed a meal at the Monkey Bar, prices very reasonable as the prices at the restaurant were out of our price range. There was a very friendly group of emus walking around the park, these provided great entertainment for the kids and it was lovely to see them close up. The dolphin feeding each morning was lovely and there is a great information display setup at the resort along with movies that are shown on the area regularly throughout the day. The Wildlife Cruise is definately worth doing we saw dugongs, sea snakes, dolphins and turtles and enjoyed the sunset cruise later that night which was free when you booked the Wildlife Cruise. Definatley one of our favourite places along the west coast.

“Great location and dolphins in the lagoon”

we stayed in Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort two days when we travelled to the Northwest Australia. Camp was full of guests, but still quiet well maintained. Toilets and showers were clean but I hope that they will be renewed in the future.

It is a little bit pricey, but the location is definitely one of the best in Australia. Morning dolphin feeding by trained stuff was unforgettable. We also saw many wild birds on the long sandy beach and a very friendly pelican.

Unfortunately lagoon is not very good for snorkeling, because of a little bit too milky water but it is ok for swimming. Anyhow we saw sting rays and some fish. To see more, snorkeling trip can be book on the reception.

Room Tip: If you don’t have air-condition in your campervan, place in the shadow under the trees is the must

“dirty and expensive”

My wife and I just got home from Monkey Mia, we were booked and paid for two nights but left after only one (we ended up booking into the caravan park in Denham for the next night and cut our losses at Monkey Mia). The toilet blocks at Monkey Mia were filthy and old, I don't mind old facilities but they have to be clean. We had to buy bottled water because the drinking water tasted salty, the staff were un-professional and seemed that they didn't enjoy what they did (with the exception of reception staff who were very friendly). The monkey bar was a joke, it's only 7 years old but looks like it was built in the seventies for an army barracks, definitely not a 'resort' class bar. There was no relief at the (and I use the words loosely) 'resort' from the heat as the bar and cafe didn't have air-conditioning, so if you are a camper you have to suffer. There was very little shade throughout the park and none at all in the powered sites, PLEASE BUILD SOME SHADE STRUCTURES THROUGHOUT THE PARK AND ON THE BEACH FRONT FOR GUESTS like most world leading RESORTS. The entry to the park looks like a shanty town- dirty and derelict. Not a very pleasant first impression and it just gets worse as you drive to the powered sites-dirty backpacker rooms on the left, old bus and onsite vans on the right. Where else would you see that at a resort? There was rubbish left on tables in the cafe for the whole time we sat there. The whole park felt more like a backpackers park than a world class resort, my wife and I have stayed at caravan parks in Queensland that put Monkey Mia 'resort' to shame. It's an embarrassment to international or eastern states visitors. On a plus though, it was nice to see the dolphins- the beaches are beautiful and the drive off the Hwy to Denham is spectacular, Shell Beach is also interesting. Stay at one of Denham's many accommodation choices and drive to Monkey Mia for the day (its only a 12 min drive) Denham is a beautiful place. Overview: Monkey Mia is not a resort, it's a shanty town.

Room Tip: don't camp
