“Do you trust the brochure and go with your dogs? Be careful, you may be shown the door.”

We choose this place because its brochure and website state that pets are allowed, so we are reassured that we can take our 2 Chihuahuas with us. When we arrive in the late evening, we are happy to spend the night in such a nice spot in the Umbrian countryside. Unfortunately, as we are checking in, the heads of the dogs peek out of the bag and things turn sour: the owner says that the dogs cannot be accepted. There is no paying an extra, no trying to find a place for them in a non-residential part of the premises, not even - when it is clear that we have to go away and it is 9 pm in a nondescript faraway country village - the offer of a help find an alternative dog-friendly accommodation nearby. Just judge for yourselves.

“Unbelievable place to stay in Tuscany”

We stayed at Parco Fiorito while on our honeymoon in Italy. We both agreed that our stay there was the highlight of our trip. Our host, Roberto made us feel like part of the family and made it a priority to ensure we had a great time. And we did. We had a private cooking class with Roberto, during which we cooked dinner for the other guests at the hotel. We also enjoyed the private hot tub. Everything we ate there was delicious, and the wine was exceptional. We can't wait to go back! We recommend this place for anyone looking to enjoy the Tuscan country side.

“Fabulous Place to Stay”

If what you are seeking is a true Italian experience, Relais Parco Fiorito could well be it. The rooms are very comfortable, with all the amenities, but the real star is the experience. From check-in welcome from the owner and his staff to the amazing meals, this location offers guests a chance to truly relax in Italian splendor.

Situated just outside Cortona, the hotel/spa has gorgeous grounds to stroll (we were there in the fall --- perfect, with the grapes just ready for harvest), including an exercise course and long local roads through the countryside. Farm animals and the pools add to the sense of adventure/lusury.

We recommend taking one of Roberto's cooking classes. It's an afternoon and evening of great fun, and delicious dining. He also offers dinners several nights a week - and if you are there for one, the only answer is 'yes."

Parco Fiorito is also perfectly situated for driving through several local towns - to see Cortona, or visit the regional center for Italian pottery, and to visit some of the most well known wine country. It's definitely worth taking a day to go wine-tasting at some of the local wineries. We just drove and stopped in when we saw an interesting sign, and tasted some delicious varieties while meeting some of the locals.

We definitely recommend staying at Relais Parco Fiorito -- at least 3 days!

Review - Parco Fiorito Bed & Breakfast
The owner of Parco Fiorito, accomplished chef and writer Roberto Russo has done a great job converting the old 1600s monastery into a lovely, welcoming, charming hotel. The estate is located in the middle of a rustic, picturesque landscape typical of the Tuscany-Umbria area. I really enjoyed my daily walks through the large grounds, especially around the back where there is a small mountain covered by old olive orchards and groves of chestnut trees, and an incredible view of wonderful lake Trasimeno. At dusk, I could hear the boar hunters in the nearby hills, calling to their dogs. Also worth mentioning, and only a moment’s walk from the place, was a charming tiny chapel where scenes from the movie “Under the Tuscan Sun” were filmed. I also was driven to the nearby town of Pienza, with its narrow, well-preserved cobblestone streets oozing with history and charm, where in every corner you can find little shops with cured meats and the most incredible varieties of cheese! And I discovered that October is porcini mushroom season so they are featured in many dishes at the local restaurants.
The main building was warm and welcoming, and so was the staff. Laundry service, and massage were available. The dining room in the main building had a huge fireplace, and we spent the best times there enjoying fantastic Italian meals made by Signore Russo himself, well doused in his own organic wines. We had the chance to taste the special olive oil that Sig. Russo makes the old-fashioned way, using only the ripe olives hand-picked from the trees, instead of using the nets to catch all the olives, as the farmers do. This makes for a superb spicy oil of unmatched flavor. I bought a couple of large bottles to bring home and continue to enjoy it! But what made these meal times even more special were the stories that Signore Russo told in his most peculiar sense of humor, making for memorable times.
I stayed in a separate building with nice, comfortable, and tastefully decorated, very clean rooms and bathrooms. The grounds included an outdoor swimming pool and an exercise room, and most important, a beautiful Italian-style, stepped and trellised patio where you could relax or dine while taking in the view of unforgettable Tuscan farm-scapes. The owner grows his own vegetable garden and herbs used for preparing the guest meals, as well as his own farm animals (pigs and sheep). You have never tasted prosciutto like the one served at breakfast, along with croissants and assorted buns, coming from those well fed pigs! I highly recommend this Agriturismo with better taste than a hotel, whether you go alone or with your significant other. You will feel inspired by the setting, the warmth and the people in this place!

“Enchanting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2008

What a lovely place. We stayed in the Vigne Suite and it was beautiful, we had a lovely kitchen, living room and bedroom, the hand painted murals on the wall added such a nice touch. The buffet breakfast is scrumptious, Roberto even has warm milk for your coffee or tea. Roberto's proscuitto is out of this world, I would wake up every morning with anticipation of having it again. I had the best gnocci ever here, it was so light, not gummy like some can be. My only disappointment was that the pool was covered this time of the year. There were still some grapes on the vines and we picked them, they were devine. There are sheep, pigs and geese on the property, you won't find that in some city hotel, we enjoyed hearing the rooster, they were very respectful of the time and didn't crow too early
We hired Giovanni for a tour of Cortona and surrounding area, he is full of information, information I could never read in a book.
Giacommo is a gem, what a nice man, always smiling and helpful in any way, all the staff is wonderful. We met Doumina, such a delightful, knowledgeable woman, she gives tours of the area.
We enjoyed our stay at Parco Fiorito, it was a welcome, restful experience after 2 weeks of land tours from our cruise ship.
I recommend Parco Fiorito to anyone who wants a true Italian experience. I also recommend renting a car or doing a tour with Doumina as the property is in the countryside.
