“The perfect kayaker hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

Guido's hospitality was great during our stay this past week of January. We are three people kayaking in Tena for the a few days. The rooms are clean, the street is quite and hotel backs right on to the river. There is hot water and internet. For Ecuadorian standards these are above average quality at a very reasonable rate.

You can paddle the Tena river and take out right at your hotel. For a kayaker is just doesn't get any better than that.

Restaurants and a real espresso machine is walking distance from the Hotel and it's safe to walk around the neighborhood at night. Our next paddling trip back to the area we'll be sure that we use Guido's La Pasada again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that looks on to the river.

“We recommend this hotel for your stay in Tena, Ecuador”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2011

My family and I enjoyed our stay at Guido's hotel in October 2011.
Quiet place, great location, centrally located and very affordable.
We stayed for about a week.

Room Tip: ask for the rooms facing the river

“Alicia”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

I stayed at Guido's hotel August 2011. It's on a quiet street in a good location close to River People for great rufting, close to good pizza and other placed to eat and all. I liked security-there is a gate so only guests can enter the hotel and the rooms are away from the street. Bus station is 10 min walk. Many rooms look on a river and you right in front of nature reserve island for a great 1.5 hrs walk to see monkeys. Mejor de todos, the owner is very friendly and no nonsense: he let me use his computer for free, and he is nice to chat with. There is a good views for sunset from the hotel roof and you can also dry your clothes there, too. If it would be me, I would utilize that roof space better and make a place for people to hang out. The door in my room needs to be sealed, but room prices are reasonable.

“Respite on the river”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2011

Location: Walking distance to everything but in quiet area. The taxi driver didn't know how to find this place until I said "Los Yutzos dos". That's the former name and still known to locals by it.
Check in: easy and welcoming.
The room: adequate sizes for one to eight travelers. The room was spotless and cleaned daily. Has fans to keep you cool plus windows with screens. The hotel itself is behind a locked gate and I felt very safe as a solo traveler.
The staff: Guido, his wife, and staff were beyond helpful and kind. They will also do your laundry for $4.
The sleep: I fell into a deep sleep each night to the sounds of the rushing river and jungle night creatures. The beds are very comfy. The owner is also not tolerant of loud stupid guests.
Overall: For the price he should have included breakfast but doesn't, but the location right on the river makes up for that. Plus you are walking distance to many good eats anyway. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms not facing the river are dark and musty. Ask for a river room which are bright and fresh.
