We stayed at the Jandia Mar from 7th January for 2 weeks, this was our 3rd time staying here, our previous visits were in 2005 and 2006. Although we saw a few changes this time, which we put down to the current economic crisis, the Barcelo Jandia Mar still provides a great service. The staff are very helpful and friendly, everywhere from our rooms to communial areas are kept clean and tidy.Mozzies love me and we did have a couple in our room, but within an hour of reporting it to reception we had a can of spray delivered to our room. We have never had this problem before I think it may have been down to us being on the ground floor in block 4, which had alot of greenary outside our terrace.
We used the spa this visit, partly due to the fact that our previous visits were in August, so we used the outdoor pools on these occasions, so indoor pool was a bonus this time round. There is also a jacuzzi and sauna which are all free to use in your all inclusive package. We splashed out on a massage each too, which was amazing and very good value for the money.I have read reports of cold meals???? Did not come across this ourselves, but then I do eat alot of salads, although I accompany this with some kind of fish or meat and I never had any problems. One thing my husband and I always like to do at least once while we are on holiday and that is to experience one of the local fish restaurants and seeing that it was in fact our 5th visit to the resort of Jandia we have our favourite and that is in Morrel Jable, which is a small fishing village attached to Jandia, a 3 Euro taxi ride or a nice stroll along the beautiful beach or along the paved promenade. So overall we loved our holiday, yes if you really look hard you may find a bit of paint work that could do with touching up or an odd loose tile in the loo, but you are on holiday, relax and enjoy the good things its all over far too quickly.

We stayed at the Barcelo from 7/1/2012 for a week. First impressions WOW, POSH. Yes in the main areas. Room ok very basic for a 4 star. There were rusty bin marks on floor,dust on main units. T V no remote control and old . Only two channels for English folks. No shelve in bathroom,but there was a PLASTIC table. Food always cold although plentiful.Staff eager to take plates away as soon as the knife and fork hits the plate. Wouldn't stay there again.

Travelled December 10th for 2 weeks, hotel is very clean, room spacious, we were on the second floor and the people above used to come in very late every night and wake me and my husband up.Plenty of choice of food but it was always cold,( dinner and the evening meal,) even if you went in as soon as the restaurant opened, some of the meat was not good quality and overcooked.We found it very cold sitting in the bar area at night as it was next to the reception area where doors were sometimes left open making it cold we did not think this was the best place for the bar to be as there was plenty of space away from the reception.
The pool area is excellent very clean and no problem getting a sun bed,
We noticed that many of the guest filled there own water bottles up from the drink stations in the restaurant and bars we think this is a discusting habbit as this is the quickest way to pass virus's and germs on
This is the second time we have been to this hotel and the food is not as good as the previous year, but it was value for money

Went for Xmas 2011. Food, location and total experince - excellent. The whole complex was spotless and there was so much space, it was very relaxing.The Xmas Gala meal was out of this world. Well done to the Jandia Mar staff and management - we will defintely return.

If you book through Thomas Cook you can use both hotels.

Yes the hill is steep, but no problem to walk down the road - quicker. On the way back, go through the Playa and use the lift to get you to the road that separates the two hotels. There is also a local bus if you really don't fancy the walk, but we found it enjoyable rather than horrendous. We often stopped at the Playa snack bar to break the hill up a little, but its really not a problem.

For management - the toilets on the restuarant floor could do with a big refurbishment - we avoided using them in the end.
