“Affordable, comfortable B&B in the upscale high castle lake country just outside Rome”

We stayed here for 6 nights and enjoyed the wonderful hospitality provided by Mary. The location is not rural, but is in the high-end suburbs about 20 miles from the center of Rome. The 3 of us used both rooms and shared a bath. For the price, we were delighted with the accommodations and the location.

The B&B is almost impossible to find because it is hidden from the street. Our GPS took us to the hospital, which is about a block or two away. Look for the restaurant with the yellow sign ... it is directly across the street.

“outstanding B&B”

Albero Gemello and the hospitality of Mary and Mario certainly live up to the rave reviews. This is an excellent base for exploring the Castelli Romani region.

“A great place to stay while visiting Rome”

I had the pleasure of staying for 5 days at Albero Gemello in August with another couple while visiting Rome and Pompeii .The hospitality of Mary and Mario is second to none. They went out of their way to take us to points of interest in and around Albano Laziale which is lovely suburb south of Rome.It is only a 10 minute walk to catch the commuter train and a 45 minute trip in to Rome Termini station. The trip in gives you time to plan your day's activities and the return journey gives your tired legs a welcome respite. The rooms are immaculately clean and the breakfasts are delicious and nutritious, showing Mary's commitment to a healthy diet. The rates are considerably cheaper than comparable B&B's in the center of Rome which I have stayed at before and the train fare is less than 2 euros per trip. Incidentally, the Roma & Piu pass covers trains to and from Albano Laziale.Mary also offers free pick-up at Ciampino airport and for reasonable fee will pick-up at Leonardo da Vinci airport which we did.
All in all, Albero Gemello was the best B&B we stayed at during our 3 week trip to Italy and Ireland.

“Wonderful B&B near Rome, Italy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2009

I am inspired to write Trip Adviser because of a wonderful Italian Bed and Breakfast, in the Roman hillside area, B&B Albero Gemello, where I stayed for a month during my recent visit to Rome. I had intended to stay in Albano Laziale for only a few days and then move into Rome, but then decided to stay on because of the outstanding hospitality of the owners, Mary Janet MacIsaac (a Canadian), and her husband Mario Munari.

What impressed me were the comfort, cleanliness and calmness of their home, as well as the atmosphere of culture, their deep knowledge of Italy and their love of Rome and its treasures. Mario’s background in architecture and Mary Janet’s in nutrition are a great combination and make for a unique ambiance in their cultured home, to say nothing of their outstanding breakfasts. They even pick guests up and drop them off at the Roma Ciampino Airport.

I was surprised at how easy it was to go into Rome as often as I wanted, even daily, on the very dependable train which goes almost every hour between Albano and Rome’s Termini (central train station). Initially I was concerned about commuting between Albano and Rome, but I found myself enjoying the train ride and using the short trip ( 45 minutes) to plan and organize my day, check maps and reflect on my experiences in the area and in the Eternal City. One of my reflections as the train went by the Lake of Albano , was about the choice of the ancient Roman emperors -- and later on, the Popes (at nearby Castel Gandolfo), in having their summer residences in the lovely Castelli Romani with its lakes, hills, and ideal climate: a refuge and freedom from the hot Roman summers.

I have the highest recommendation for Mary Janet and Mario Munari and their very affordable Bed & Breakfast (http://www.bb-alberogemello.com ), their generosity in sharing their home and hospitality with their guests, and their balance between helpfulness and privacy.
