This is a great alternative to staying in Venice. It is between the towns of Dolo and Mira, on the Riviera del Brenta, the canal that runs between Padua and Venice. It is in a villa built in 1884 that has been refurbished as a hotel. Although it has been completely modernized with air conditioning and mini bars in the rooms, it is full of antiques, Murano glass chandeliers, marble, etc. It has a lovely outdoor garden with a fountain. Our room was not big but perfectly adequate. I think they have bigger rooms if you want to pay more. The shower was very big and completely surrounded by pink marble. It is very quiet at night although I did hear some strange animal sounds. All the people who worked there spoke English and were very friendly and helpful. For example, they recommended good restaurants and called in reservations for us. They have a restaurant also but we didn't eat there as it was closed 2 of the 3 nights we stayed. Breakfast is included and has a much bigger offering than most Italian B&Bs. They even have cooked eggs and vegetables. Despite all the variety, we didn't find the breakfasts very tasty. They have a computer if you want to get on the internet. Venice is only a 45 minute bus ride away (quicker if you have a car). The buses run frequently and stop right in front of the hotel (6.20€ round trip). However, the Brenta area has a charm of its own. There are many ancient villas, a few of which are open to the public. You can take a boat tour on the canal. Also, Dolo is an interesting town. We won't hesitate to stay here the next time we are in Italy.
