The hotel is effectively a pub that sells food with a few rooms. The whole place is generally a little tired. The rooms are upstairs and are noisy – in some you get noise from the bar whilst in others you get road noise and vans coming in and out of an adjacent post office depot. As one of the other reviewers mentioned, there is also a door which slams every time someone uses it!
The rooms are small with massive furniture which makes it feel even smaller. The room, bedding and en-suite seemed to be clean. Tea and coffee making facilities are included, along with bottled water which is a nice touch. There is also free wi-fi and a small car park for customer use.
The price is room only and you pay for breakfast dependent on what you have. The menu is pretty standard fare of full or half English breakfast (both very large), omelette, cereal etc. There was nothing special about it – no homemade breads, the cereals are packaged, they had run out of croissants and the juice was from a carton.
I’ve left a review about the restaurant separately.
The staff are friendly and helpful.
