“Came for the fish but ended up staying for the food.”

Great (quiet) spot for a bit of laid-back relaxation. We (a mate and I) came for the last day of the salmon fishing on the Blackwater but ended up staying for a few days extra. The breakfasts are THAT good. + we got to borrow (free) the Canadian canoe for a trip on the river this morning. Fan-tastic.
Els runs the house and is a great cook with lots of different items on the menu - some are unique to here. De-lish !! Peter organises stuff outside - eco-projects (he's building a micro-hydro electric system !! as well as solar panels (water and PV) and all kinds of stuff. Friday night he took us to a music session in Cappoquin - another reason to stay. The weather was terrible yesterday so we chilled and read and just enjoyed the peace and quiet and some of the books (The place is stuffed with books on EVERY-thing!
Today the canoe-trip in brilliant sunshine was class and we got to feed the hens and collect the eggs!! Work tomorrow - blast

Excellent accommodation (we also saw the self-catering apartment too) The B&B is very comfortable and beautivully decorated in a simple style with lots of good artwork and flowers. Great breakfast and a good bed. Very clean and very warm welcome.
Els (from Amsterdam) is wonderful cook with lots of choice for breakfast and Peter is very knowledgable about all things local and further (He speaks Dutch too!!) he can teach Irish music and gave us lessons in archery.
We borrowed their bicycles and we travelled along the banks of the river to eat in Lismore - great choice of places but we were still full from Els breakfast !! We had a snack in The Red House and a pint - very nice old pub.
Hope to visit Glenribbeen Eco Lodge next year and see what new projects they have added to their eco-lodge.
We got to feed the hens and get the eggs. The puppies are very cute too.
Photos later I hope.

From the moment we arrived we were in heaven, we were treated with such a warm welcome. Peter was always willing to chat and eager to make our stay as pleasent as possible.we ate amazing breakfasts- such good options on the menu with fresh fruit and amazing homemade brown bread on the side! the atmosphere in the lodge was very relaxed and we made the most of the amazing servies which the lovely couple provided such as use of their canoe, bikes, various fishing equiptment, instruments, books, garden hammock, kites and BBQ... Iv never even heard of such extras being provied in another B&B... expecially as its half the price!! we even had a 5 star hotel booked for the last night and cancelled becuase we would rathar the tranquil surroundings of Glenribbeen lodge!! they made our stay amazing, offering information, conversation and even lifts to and from the pub. would recomend it to absolutly everyone and cant wait to return.

“Nice BnB in beautiful surroundings”

Stopped in at this place as myself and the wife were looking for a stopover in south east waterford, in my opinion one of the most scenic places in the south east. This BnB is nestled just off the main road outside of Lismore, which itself boasts a castle and countless other scenic views. Lismore itself is a stones throw from the BnB, about 15 minutes walk, although the proprietor Peter (who is extremely helpful by the way!) runs a car service to bring bnb customers between the BnB and Lismore. I am usually very picky when it comes to staying at BnBs as we have had a few bad experiences, but I genuinely liked this quaint BnB. Another neat feature is the green approach Peter and his wife Els take to running Glenribbeen, added on top of the beautiful walk, and also the option of learning archery, which i wanted to partake in, but my stay was too short! I will definitely be coming back! thanks Peter and Els! ps. thanks to Pete for allowin me to use his photos! see ya in october buddy!

“One night stay in Lismore”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 July 2010

Oh My, Peter and Els must be the most spectacular hosts. My husband and I were 'oh so tired' from the trip in from Dublin and they treated us as old friends. We only stayed one night but we wish we could have stayed a week. Els's breakfast is out of this world!
