“Welcoming and Friendly - with lots of Character”

We flew into Waterford Airport in the middle of the recent freeze for a four day stay. Our hire car at the airport had been defrosted and warmed - what a lovely touch from Budget - we made our way to the outer ring road, over 5 roundabouts, and took a left into Old Kilmeadon road - all the roads were very icy, but passable - about half a mile further we turned right into the imposing drive of the Hotel - WOW - The Hotel itself was lit up and looked fabulous against the slight night fog.

A lady at reception (Kate) greeted us warmly - offered us a meal despite being 3 hours overdue because of flight delays, and we were shown to our room. - I should really say rooms, as we had been upgraded to a suite at no extra cost.

The rooms were massive, and again full of character. The bed was a super King Size, and despite the minus 13 degrees outside the rooms were well aired and warm enough

After checking in, we went to the Bar, which was Delightful. A roaring fire greeted us, and we met the other 2 owners, Patrick, and Caroline - After a good nights sleep we had one of the best breakfasts ever, in a lovely dining room.

This Hotel is in a fabulous setting, with acres of grounds, and is ideally placed to explore Waterford City and the south east of Ireland. The owners, Patrick, Kate and Caroline are delightful people. Nothing was too much trouble, including afternoon tea/coffee upon our return each day at around 4PM - which we would enjoy in front of a warming fire.

Because of the bad weather we had 2 evening meals in the Hotel. This was a good move as the food was of a very high standard. We were given a choice of eating in the restaurant, or they would make a table for us in the Bar, in front of the fire - this was the owners "Going the extra mile" for their guests and was fabulous!!

If you like your Hotels to be full of character, in a beautiful setting, owner managed by people who care, then this is the hotel for you. If you prefere a motel chain hotel, with boring square rooms made of ticky tacky,at about the same price, then you would not appreciate the delights of the Waterford Manor

This Hotel is really worth a visit and we strongly recommend that you give it full consideration - Fantastic value for Money

“Comfortable, Relaxing Break in Waterford Manor”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2010

Sept 2010: Just back from a few days in Waterford Manor. Brought my elderly parents for a short break. Only 1hour 45mins from Dublin, and a few minutes from the centre of Waterford, the calm countryside setting and beautiful gardens make it feel like a world away.
The Hotel itself is spacious, lots of comfortable seating in the bar and lobby areas, (all with views of the garden) and a selection of magazines & newspapers available to help you while away the time. Bedrooms were bigger than I expected (Double & Twin). Both had a small table & Chairs, TV, Hairdryer, Tea/Coffee facilities, Iron & Ironing board . Beds were VERY comfortable and both bedrooms and bathrooms were spotless. Generous Breakfast, selection of fruits, yoghurts, cereals, toast & cooked breakfast. We also had dinner in the Bar on our last night. Again, generous portions of tasty home-cooked food. There are fewer than 30 bedrooms in this hotel so you benefit from the personal touch of the fantastic owners who made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Pat, Kate & Caroline were all very welcoming and friendly and happy to give assistance, directions and advice. (There is also a conference centre and very large function room in the hotel that opens onto its own separate garden so a wedding party could book out the whole hotel for a very intimate occasion.)

“Lovely place and people.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2010

A little dated, but the house was built in 1740. Large clean room and welcoming staff. Beautiful gardens, excellent food and very well priced. I had read several bad reviews but was pleasantly surprised by what we found. Would we use again? Definatly yes! Pat an Kate are lovely folk and deserve success in their venture. Thanks again!

PS. Hope you enjoyed the bubbly!

“Beautiful setting, excellent value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 July 2010

Lovely hotel in beautiful grounds. Ideal for a relaxing break. Large well furnished room with comfortable bed and generous bathroom. Friendly service and the best meal we experienced on our holiday in Ireland. Well worth a visit especially on a Thursday when adjacent gardens are open to visitors.

“AWFUL”

Its is such a pity that an amazing place could be run by these creatures. The owners Pat, Kate and their daughter Caroline do not know what hospitality is or how to run the gem of a hotel....only to the ground. I feel that because they live in the hotel they view it as their home so I think that is why they become aggressive when someone critises it. Although I wouldn't say a B&B owner would act the same. The prices are too high for the service and quality offered and they really need to GET REAL. My stay with could be described as cold, damp and depressing. Please someone buy these people out of the business......the hotel could do with proper owners.
