We were traveling from Little Rock, Arkansas to Morelia, Michoacán, México, hauling our cargo trailer. When we arrived at Celaya, we could only find a slick, new "motel de paso" at first, but we got directions from an OXXO convenience store to the high rise Casa Inn.
The rack rate is $100 USD a night, far more than we are accustomed to paying, but I persuaded the friendly, bilingual receptionist into discounting the rate to $80 USD. Weekend special promotional rates are offered, but you must book in advance,
We chose a room on a high floor. The corridors and lobby are mimimally decorated, even stark. The room was spacious, very clean, and the bath was well arranged and had nice amenities., good towels and plenty of hot water. Air conditioning was controlled by inserting your room card into special card reader, just inside the door. We learned of this electricity conservation measure somewhat belatedly.
High speed Internet access was of excellent quality, and is Ethernet cabled, not wireless.
There is a small pool and an exercise room, but we did not avail ourselves of either facility.
We did not eat in the hotel restaurant, but instead, walked a few blocks to a California Buffet Restaurant, where the food is wholesome, if somewhat bland.
I saw our stay as a welcome interlude from the rigors of moving and dealing with the stresses of the border crossing the day before. It's a very American style, business traveler oriented hotel, and for one night, served our needs very well.
