“Good Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

This is a big hotel, that is relatively modern. Good location, good choice of Restaraunts that are not too expensive. Rooms are modern, clean, spacious and have everything that you need. Not too expensive. Didnt use the spa facilites so cannot comment. Lots of amenities in the hotel. Kids soft play area, ice cream shop, Gym cafe bar, etc.

Would definitely recommend this hotel

“Good but still average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

We spent one night in Naantali Spa and had quite high expectations for the hotel as we had heard many positive comments from our friends about it. The room we stayed in was in Sunborn yacht which was clean and spacious taking into concideration that the room is in a ship. I have somewhat confused feelings about the hotel as it is good in many ways but in the hotel there are some things that still make it quite average. One of the things was Le Soleil restaurant - I was really happy to see that they have thai kitchen personnel and good selection of thai food but still the food was quite finnish because even if I asked the Tom Yam Goong soup as thai spicy it lacked the spicyness you would expect to taste in real thai version of this soup. As I main dish I ordered Panaeng Gai which suffered from the same lack of punch in the taste. But the good thing was that the service was excellent in Le Soleil. The spa section has some potential but during the daytime I felt like I was in a waterpark as there was lot of noise and it wasn't in that sense too relaxing. In the evening after 8pm the situation was a lot better when there were adults mainly. During the evening we visited one of the bars down stairs and the beer that I received was poured to the glass for some reason earlier and then the bartender poured it to a different glass before serving it to me and the beer was not cool anymore and thus had probably been in the original glass for some time. This should not happen in a five star hotel. I do understand that this hotel is good and attractive for many people but I do not believe I will visit the place again as the price vs value rate is not too impressive.

“Relaxation and comfort for the whole family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

The purpose of our stay was to relax together as a family after a busy christmas and new years celebration - visiting family in different places and having guests at home. We all also love spending time in and beside the pools.

The combination of the hotels facilities and comfort and the finnish nice and calm service is perfect. Finnish guests also seem much more relaxed and quite - including the children - than other nationalities, and support the relaxing experience.

We stayed at Naantali Spa first time in August 2011 (see review), which was a pleasant surprise. This time we knew what to expect and had high expectations - which were fulfilled.

The de Luxe rooms at the Sunborn Yacht Hotel are slightly smaller than the rooms at the Suite Hotel. Though we used the sofa bed for our two children (5 and 8 years old), the room felt spacious enough. With the nice view over the sea and silent surroundings, we highly recommend staying at the Sunborn Yacht Hotel. The sofa bed does not comfort adults but the children slept very well.

The pool areas are great and never crowded. Like in August we sometimes had a pool totally or almost by our self. The pool bar food holds a surprisingly high level - a recommendation for the "homemade" chicken fingers and fries. Swimming outdoor with 32 degrees cecius in the water and -1 in the air with the sun shining over the sea and islands was memorable.

The dinner buffet at the Soleil holds a good level, but is still not that memorable - and none of the children's favorites were on the buffet. The TK restaurant with more beef, pizza and hamburger style food, have a pleasant atmosphere, nice waiters and serves great pizzas and a real tender spare ribs.

We spent some hours in the Mövenpick Cafe in the big lobby area: Reading, playing on the iPad and of course having some drinks, coffee, ice-cream and other goodies for the children.

Teenagers will maybe miss some more action and waterslides at the pool. Instead this is the place for relaxation and comfort which seem to attract families with children, young "loving" couples and seniors.

Room Tip: Choose The Sunborn Yacht Hotel

“for a short visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

I had a gift certificate for 2 nights, 2 dinners and 1 massage staying in the Yacht hotel. The staff was friendly, room was spacious, with fitted carpet and small balcony. The dinner at Tammikellari, TK`s, was really allright, plenty to eat. In the Le Soleil restaurant the beefsteak was ok, but you didn `t get anything else for the plate, only some lentil (grains) and that´s about it. Also the dessert buffet was a dissapointment for me, but someone else might found it acceptable: it had some fruit, some cheese and some sweets to choose from, and coffee. The massage with hot stones, 50 minutes, was wonderful and ended for a cup of ginger tea.
The pool was overcrowded on Sunday, the spa was the holiday resort for many other people as well, because of the Independence day in Finland and a few days free from work. In the restaurants and other amenities that was not a problem.
Naantali city is a very quiet place during the wintertime and the chuch was closed due the restoration till May 2012. So there is not much to sightseeing before summer. Area near Naantali spa is suitable and comfortable for walking and jogging.

Room Tip: In the Sunborn Yacht fitted carpet, in the main building wooden floors. In the S.Yacht bathroom door...

“Luxury with old fashioned design”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

We had a room in the ship - I really loved it. Hotel is clean and large enough to make you feel comfortable, but design is a bit old fashioned.

Swimming area is reasonable, though not too much of an attraction, nice terrace and outside pool. Treatments were worth of money (I had mud bath and manicure). Some entertainment in the evening, including live music and piano in the lobby, karaoke in a bar and live band singing for dancing in restaurant. Area around the hotel has nice shores and views, good for walking around. Restaurants downstairs are not too good, Thai restaurant was brilliant; breakfast was good, lots of choices of food (buffet), fresh, good quality.

Room Tip: Rooms on ship are were nice and large enough.
