We were travelling through the area and stopped to have coffee. The location and scenery were stunning and we thought it would be nice to see what the hotel had to offer for any future trips. However......... the young girl on reception who spoke limited English seemed very suprised by our request. After being shown into a room which seemed to be in a time warp, we waited and waited. There was literally no-one else around (It was 12:30 - lunchtime) My husband commented he wondered if "Lurch" would turn up with the coffee, such was the strange atmosphere of the place.(Those of you as old as us will remember the "Adams family!") The cleanliness of the toilets and the room which we were in - possibly a library, were not up to my standard. The girl from reception finally brought us some lukewarm coffee with cups and plates but no saucers!
When we left and asked to pay the bill, the same young girl on reception smiled and disappeared!
The hotel seems to be stuck in the 1970's and if you don't like tartan, the military and lots of very weird stuffed animals staring out of a glass case, this place is definitely not for you
We will not be returning
