“Why here?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2010

We spent 2 1/2 weeks traveling around Sardenia in the early part of July. I chose Tempio Pausania because as our one inland town. And then I was sorry that I did. The beaches and towns are so spectacular all around the coast, that this destination just did not seem worth the time it took to get there. The town itself is full of charm and not touristy at all, and a wonderful place to sample true Sardinian specialties.
However, I found Pausania Inn to be pretty soulless and rather just practical. I was missing the beautiful flowers and flowering trees and shrubs that landscaped all the other hotels we stayed at in Sardinia. There wasn't an inviting bar or lounge area for a pre-dinner drink. And the room decor was U.S. motel-style at best.
I go for charm and style over functionality any time!

Hello Ronni,

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. Although we always aim to do well, we realize there are times when we may fall short of our guests’ expectations. It’s people like you who remind us how important it is for us to continuously improve our service. Suggestions from our clients help us push our professionalism further and make stays at Pausania Inn increasingly pleasurable.
We are delighted you enjoyed visiting Tempio, which, as you pointed out, is indeed an off-the-beaten-track location. We firmly believe that visiting our small community is a great way to get acquainted with Sardinia’s more authentic spirit, which is often overlooked.
We will take heed of all you have written about Pausania Inn, and hope you will one day have a chance to stop by again and see that we have found the ingredients you think are presently missing.

Thanks again and best regards,

Vargiu Family

“Lovely!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2010

This Hotel was absolutely lovely, it was set back in the mountains so was very quiet and relaxing. The Rooms were big and have little balconies overlooking the cork fields which was very pleasing, although the walls are quite thin and unfortunately we had a crying baby next to us for the last 2 nights but the rest of the time it was fine. A lot of the staff spoke English and very very helpful and approachable.

Its just outside the little town of Tempio, a charming town with lots of character, a few bars and few restaurants all scattered around a central square, lots of pizzas!!the only downfall was getting back to the hotel after dinner- the only way back is along the very windy main road where there are no pavements and no street lamps so pitch black! which, as a result made us drive the town for dinner rather than walk the 1K,

The closet beaches are a 40 minute drive away but the roads are windy so its quite tiring, its definitely worth a visit to the beaches a little further away too like Santa Teresa, beautiful.

I would definitely stay here again, its lovely to have a bit of both- beaches and mountains, and very relaxing.

“Hotel in tranquil setting with stunning mountain views yet only short drive from some of the most beautiful beaches.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2009

The owners have put a lot of thought in to the running of this establishment. The food is excellent, service exemplary, rooms very good value. Tempio town itself is picturesque and there are many attractions a short drive away. Very highly recommended. We have now stayed twice and will return again next year.

“Completely won over”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2009

We booked a 4 night stay and like many other reviewers we arrived at the Pausania Inn with high hopes. Arriving at 11pm isn't the best time to assess your new surroundings but just seemed OK. We had arranged some food due our late arrival and plates of hams, cheeses, breads melon etc were brought to the room .. fantastic with a cold beer mmm.
Next morning (and every other morning like most people) we had the breakfast which was fine, unfussy but don't expect a huge choice. One tip: ask for an espresso / capuccino at breakfast and they'll make you the real deal (free) otherwise you'll be having the filter stuff. This was followed by an hour or 2 relaxing at the beautiful pool which was clean and well looked after admiring the great views of the surrounding mountains.
This was followed by a trip into the local supermarket to put together a picnic to take to the beach. (The supermarket is hidden away on the left going into town). It's 30 mins drive down to the nearest beach and then from there within 10-15 mins a great selection of fantastic beaches which even in July were not packed out.
The room was perfect for us, with air conditioning and comfy beds overlooking the pool. The staf made sure that all our needs were met. For example our room did not have a minibar. We told them that the reviews and their website mentioned a minibar and within an hour an empty fridge was provided (perfect for what we wanted ... who uses minibars for anything else?)
Overall the hotel is very quiet and peaceful, a car is definitely necessary and Tempio the local town is worth exploring as there are some lovely bars and a couple of restaurants to enjoy. By the end of the 4 nights we loved the place and left feeling peaceful and fully re-charged.
