“Highly recommended....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

We recently stayed at Wheeldon Trees Farm for 3 nights. We wanted somewhere relaxing, where we could take our dog and unwind for a few days. The accommodation was excellent - very high standard...every detail had been thought of. The location is stunning. Deborah and Martin were very friendly and helpful. There are plenty of excellent dog friendly pubs which serve excellent food nearby. Walks galore! If you are thinking of going to the Peak District you will not be disappointed with Wheeldon Trees Farm.

“A lovely place to stay....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Can`t begin to try and explain what a lovely place this is to stay! It was the perfect escape for a quiet relaxing weekend, we really loved being able to take our dogs with us and not only were we allowed to take them they were welcomed with open arms.
Deborah and Martin are two of the most natural hosts Ive ever met and also made my nine year old daughter feel like she`d known them all her life.
Nothing is forgotten in the cottages they have, quite simply thought of everything you may need from the kitchen to the bathroom nothing is left to chance and if thats not enough Deborah will happily cook you homemade bread or you can go to the store and find some more of her home cooking all ready for you. Thankyou for a lovely stay we will be back......

“Fantastic cottage in the amazing Peak District”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

My husband and I stayed at Wheeldon Trees Farm for 3 nights in November 2011 in the Ollerenshaw cottage which was perfect for the two of us and our young labrador. The cottage was immaculate and stocked with everything you could need for the perfect self catering holiday, we were very impressed with the standard of the cottage - the kitchen was modern, the bathroom luxurious and the bedroom very comfortable. The owners, Deborah and Martin, were very friendly and helped us out a number of times when we had random questions!

The setting is amazing, in the heart of the Peak District. From the moment we stepped foot outside of our cottage all we could see was rolling hills, a sprinkling of sheep, and fortunately for us in November, blue sky! We did a number of the walks to surrounding villages which were lovely (route maps are in all of the cottages). We also took in day trips to Bakewell, Chatsworth House (great day out but the house was still hidden under scaffolding), Lyme Hall & White Peak National Trust - all of which we would recommend.

We ate at a couple of the local pubs - the Royal Oak and the Packhorse Inn. Both offer delicious home cooked food.

We would highly recommend Wheeldon Trees Farm and will definitely be visiting again in the future.

“Perfect New Year!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

The biggest testimony we can give Wheeldon Trees is that this was our fifth stay in the cottages! Despite that this is the first time we have stayed for a full week, previously only having long weekends.
This was our first stay in Mycock Cottage but we knew what to expect from the property as they are all similar & all perfect. It was plenty big enough for us both & our 5 year old daughter (& Gordon setter Rudy) & the tasteful Xmas decorations gave it a lovely festive feel, nice little extras like a christmas cake & a bottle of prosecco were an extra new year bonus too.
I have previously reviewed Wheeldon Trees & can only echo those feelings, it's a great setting, the cottages are beautifully furnished & equipped & Martin & Deborah are the perfect hosts. I genuinely think they have thought of everything, the long room is packed full of toys & games for all ages, the store has full laundry facilities, stock of prepared meals & other useful kitchen items. It also has a lovely Eco feel as recycling almost everything is encouraged & so easy to do.
As you might expect in the Peak District the weather in late December/early January is not always glorious but we found plenty to do locally despite it being New Year & we were so glad we had the full week. Pantomime at the opera house was a festive must, Poole's Cavern was a fun day, nice wander at Chatsworth House & plenty of walks locally round the cottage, the bookshop down the road was great for a stock up of reading material too. We must also recommend a meal at the Royal Oak, we've been every time we've stayed at Wheeldon & always been impressed. The menu is vast, the food lovely & I defy anyone to get through 3 courses! we've never made it to dessert yet!
Wheeldon Trees was the perfect treat after a hectic build up to Christmas & we left feeling fully rested, recuperated & ready for 2012, we just need to work out when we are returning for visit no.6

“Jackson 3”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

This was a real find! (Thank you Paul for finding this gem!) Spent a wonderful Christmas holiday with friends here in Derbyshire. (21st-28th Dec) . Staying in two of the cottages we can highly recommend either cottage! (Lomas & Mycock). We arrived at Lomas cottage to find our hosts had thought of everything... No exaggeration. So impressive, cottage tastefully & beautifully decorated ready for Christmas, table set... candle flickering & music playing... Even to a small Christmas cake, mince pies & a bottle of bubbly! Magical! Having never contemplated being away from home for the Festive week this was one of the most relaxing stress free Christmas's we have ever had... So much so we have rebooked for 2012! It is a wonderful location, superb walking... Two great pubs within 45 minutes walk...organic food available in the Larder was superb. The Eco friendly approach to everything was most welcome & in parts educational... Sold us on the Eco laundry balls! Have now adopted this at home! Great hosts - would not hesitate to recommend Wheeldon Trees, immaculate cottages & site...friendly owners and dogs. You will not be disappointed... Guaranteed! Thank you so much Deborah & Martin for welcoming us! See you Christmas 2012!
