“Avoid it, if possible”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2010

We stayed here for three nights with our three year old child. The location is unbeatable, and they have private parking.
The room was spacey, but unfortunately not very clean. There was dust everywhere, even on the bathroom lights at the sides of the mirror over the sink (so absolutely visible even for a lazy maid). The carpet needed a steamcleaning really badly, and it was the first time I worried about bed bugs – which we didn’t get. Also, there was mold on the tiles around the bathtub.
The upsides: it was quiet, we had a nice, big balcony with oceanview, and the people at the front desk were helpful and spoke English well.
I would stay here again if I didn’t get a room in one of the other hotels nearby.

“to blame”

even if in the passed year I stayed in the biggest building of the two of Kalliste, this year I was in the smallest one , right near the street. The room 102 was over the reception and over the dehor.
every morning 7 am you will be awaked by people of the hotel that are pushing more than 80 chairs on the floor, to dispose them around the tables for breakfast. The shower is black-moldy filled on the ground, there is no place to put a soap or a shampoo when you are taking the shower, even the arm for the shower do no exist, you must keep it in your hand! ridicoulus ! a lamp of the mirror was missing, has never been replaced.... the bed : like all furniture is yaer 70 or like that.No matter if the mattress has also those years, the cover-matress was of an awful yellow circles, sweat or something else? the coils of the mattress will keep you awake all night, pushing your back ,making you assume a U position, very relaxing (my weight is 70 kgs..).
PLUS? good view from the terrace, enough space in room, but these are not the first things to evaluate. in the neighborhood will find better place to rest (at less).

“Do not stay there, not at all what we expected”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2009

September 17, 2009
We were so looking forward to staying in Porto for 2 straights nights after being on the go for more than 7 days between the French Riviera and Corsica. But when we arrive, we were told that we could only spend 1 night at this hotel because the next night they had no rooms for us, we had to move to another hotel. away from the ocean. (that is one of the reason why we wanted to stay there) We had reserved this hotel through our travel agent couple of months ago and it was all paid for and confirmed. No one advised us of this change. We argued with him and finally he told us that he had accepted a tour bus the week before and needed to 2 rooms for these people. By this time, the tone went up quite a bit. They told us they tried to book us for 2 nights in a row at other hotels but everything was booked up. The staff were very rude...let's say they were everything but friendly. At some point, we told them we would report them to the tourist office, apparently they don't care. Then they threatened us to call the police , we told them to do so, that what they were doing was wrong and unethical. By then, they just left the front desk and left us by ourselves. So we went up to check the rooms, decided with the other couple that we were traveling with that these rooms were not up to our standards (we were not in an renovated room, rooms were in a sorry.shape) and that we did not want to be threated like this. We walked to the adjacent hotel, found 2 very large and clean rooms with a very nice view of the ocean for the same price and best thing is they were available for the 2 nights (The staff did not work very hard to find us a room did they???) So we stayed at the Hotel Subrini and did enjoy a great stay in Porto. The people in Porto are very nice and make you feel welcome. So please don't ruin your vacation, stay away from this hotel.

“Quaint Kalliste was sort of ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2009

We simply turned up one sunny day, end of April, and interrupted the few staff at their lunch but were met with friendly (if crumbly) faces.
Very simple room & bathroom but great terrace & views, we were given the best at a lower price.
Breakfast was brought up to the terrace and croissants with a sea view and sunshine, who needs more?
Quaint place. The Corsicans don't live in luxurious places, why should we?
Romantic get-away? Maybe not but then then again, if the spark is there....

  • Liked — The views and location.
  • Disliked — Unbelivably shoddy construction like most of the others nearby of that same era, ie concrete and then some more concrete.

“Good location and price”

This hotel in Porto was great given the fact that the rooms had A/C and were cheap in price. The room I had came with a good view of the port and was an excellent size. The staff spoke English rather well and were available to provide guidance on local spots.

Given the horrible road from Calvi to Porto, the hotel was a nice relief when we arrived. I would recommend staying here.
