We stayed here for a few days in July 2011 in the Nautical Cottage and loved it. The cottages are conveniently located along the French Shore between Church Point and Digby. The cottage itself contains everything we could have wanted...lots of fresh linens, dishes, utensils, even a first aid kit. The cottages appear to be very well kept and are very clean. This is also a great spot for kids in the event of bad weather...there is satellite television so lots of channels, a vhs/dvd collection that icludes children's selections, an inventory of games, puzzles and books, plus a modern computer that was handy for checking out tourists destinations, restaurants, the weather and even the tides.
A note about the beach....yes the cottages are on a beach, so we brought our beach chairs and blankets. However, we took a stroll on the beach and it's covered in rocks and shells, so very hard on the feet. It's also muddy in spots and we sank up to our knees in mud. The best beach around is probably Mavilette Beach in Cape Saint Mary which is not too far down the road, maybe 20 minutes or so.
We had the most wonderful dinner at Chez Christophe and highly recommend it, but reservations are probably necessary.
A word to light sleepers....we were there in July and the sun rises very very early. There are no curtains over the upper front windows in the cottage, or over the skylights in the bedroom. If you need dark to sleep, then bring eyeshades.
Pros: free internet, free long distance calls, free bottle of wine, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer, very well supplied.
Cons: BBQ was small and in very rough shape and no BBQ tools provided (even tongs and a metal spatula would have been nice). Also a full size ironing board would have been in improvement over the tiny table top one. A few things like laundry soap or shampoo being provided would have been nice, but non of the cons would keep me from ever coming back.
Already planning on coming back next year.
