My husband is usually in the area for business and stays at a local hotel, however he was called for coverage for the weekend so we decided to make it a weekend out of it. My husband stays frequently in hotels, so when the two of us travel together we try to stay in a cottages (feels more like home). We stayed in the Romantic Cottage, and everything was perfect, BEAUTIFUL cottage, got the best sleep in a long time in the comfortable bed. Huge flat screen TV, my husband watched the hockey game while I enjoyed the huge tub, beautiful electric fireplace which is nice on a fall evening. Everything we needed, including the BBQ (you would be surprised at how many cottages are open but put away their BBQs) Check in/check out was a breeze(can't remember the lady at front desk, but she was so nice), We would definitely be back:) and highly recommend these cottages, and trust me, we have stayed in a lot of cottages in NB, PEI and NS... and this one is one of the top 5.

That's exactly what we had in mind when we put in the large screen, and the hot tub! Hockey night in Canada for Monsieur and a nice relaxing bath and fireplace for Madame :)

“A little depressing...”
Maybe my expectations were higher than they should have been due to the many positive reviews on this website, but I found our cottage drab and depressing. There were no decorations and nothing to make it feel "vacation-y", and it had an unpleasant smell. The bed was extremely hard and hurt my back. The beach across the street had a lot of debris on it and wasn't very inviting.
On the bright side, there was plenty of cookware included, and a grill and picnic table. The staff were friendly and allowed us to leave early without an extra charge which was very nice of them.

Really sorry to hear the cottage was not up to your expectations. Just wanted to address a few issues.
-Decorations: We are planning to decorate every cottage for next summer. We have just completed the renovation of all cottages (fresh paint, electric fireplaces, LCD televisions, new bedding and furniture). Decoration was sort of phase 2.
-Smell: All I can say is sometimes guests do smoke or bring pets (imagine that!) and even if we do clean the cottages thoroughly and do our best to get rid of odors, it MAY happen on some rare occasions. Nothing to do with the cleanliness.
-Beds: The beds are very firm, but are excellent quality. We usually get good comments.
-Beach: There were a few storms this summer that washed up quite a bit of debris on the beach. Efforts were made to keep the beach clean this summer, but on certain days (probably your case) the cleaning crews just didn't have time to clean up because of weather conditions.
Our reputation was built on the cleanliness of the cottages and our customer service, so we take your comments very seriously and will certainly do our best to address these issues.

“Restful & Relaxing”
Stayed there for 4 nights. Very peaceful location. Nice area to have a fire, take out a bike, or go for a leisurely walk on the beach. The cottages were exceptionally clean and it was great to have the wifi included. Great seafood place about a 5 minute drive away in Dalhousie. I bought fresh lobster, clams and shrimp and brought it back to cook up in the cottages. The only minor complaint would be the barbecues. They definitely need updating.

As for the BBQs, you're absolutely right. We've been so very busy the last 3 summers, and many of them have been used and abused. We will be replacing most of them for the coming summer.

“That Place is great and Wonderful”
Thanks to Heron's Nest Cottage, our 2 nights there where magic, best place we rent in years so far. We choose that place to cut our travel time in two and dont regret it at all.
Beach was nice and all the personels in place was wonderful (the complimentary pancake breakfast was awesome) there's bike to to use for kids for free, trails all over the place , seafood etc...
Reommend that place to everyone and thanks again guy's great time, great place and of course very nice setup.
Btw we had chalet 17 a 2 story cottage with lots of space.

“A Perfect Spot!”
Well maintained cottages with all the amenities of home. We have stayed several times and are planning on returning in 2010. Beautiful spot for a winter vacation.
