Stayed here with 2 other couples.. my group rented all 3 suites in the 'boathouse' which has 3 self-contained suites-spotless little kitchenettes and washrooms-and views from your bed that are directly on the LaHave river. Lots of outside tables and chairs for relaxing and playing backgammon-a great place to swim-a floating dock upon which you could easily tie up a boat. The hostess Maria couldn't be more charming.. and watching the sunrise over the river was just breathtaking. I would recommend this spot to anyone wanting to spend a few days just enjoying the beautiful south shore of Nova Scotia.

We booked one night for time ashore during a sailing trip, and were fortunate to be able to stay a second. This is a beautiful place to relax; our room was simple, clean, well equipped and comfortable; the space and views tranquil and large; the river tidal and warm for swimming; the price affordable. Highly recommended for coastal sailors who want out of the fog, or for dinghy sailors and paddlers.

Spectacular views of the river from two sides, in this motel literally on the river bank, in what appears to be a renovated boathouse. Don't let that scare you, the room was clean, bright and simply decorated with a kitchenette. The staff was friendly and helpful. There are also rooms further from the river, but ask for the riverside for a wonderful peaceful and romantic escape. Definitely would stay again.

The motel is across from, not in Halifax, is on an interesting canal, is near several restaurants, and is very convenient for driving to the airport. We stayed there our last night in Nova Scotia before flying home, The proprietor arranged for an early breakfast for us to fit our schedule and she arranged for us to print our boarding passes. How's that for service! This is a great place for a couple who does not need or desire slick luxury and does not need to be in the center of Halifax, but prefers friendly and attentive customer service and an interesting location.
