“What's with the toilet roll?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

This hotel is perfect for a cheap holiday away, It's clean, staff are extremely friendly and the rooms are huge. It is a bit noisy on a Monday night/early into the morning though as they have a house BBQ night! It is about 5 mins down to the beach and 5-10 mins from the resort centre. There's a couple of shops at the bottom of the road for you to stock up but these are slightly more expensive than the shops on the main strip. One thing to bear in mind, you get one toilet roll per room, and that is it for your stay, you have to buy your own after that. We asked our rep about this and they pointed out that it said it on the notice board in reception. The shops sure now how to charge for toilet roll too!!! The resort itself is very run down, a bit like a 'has been' resort, you wouldn't want to swim in the sea near the hotel as there are sewage pipe going straight into the sea, but it's nice once you walk out of Sidari a few km. It would probably be the sort of place to go for all night bars but wasn't really for us. If you do go there is a great little home made pizza place just off the main strip. Turn off the strip at the little church and it's just on your left. Reasonable and really yummy, and best of all, no reps to pester you into coming in!

“Fantastic family holiday”

I visited the stema in august 2011 for 2 weeks with my partner and our 2 teenagers. The staff were all very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much for them. Huge rooms which were basic but very adequate. Great location, close enough to the main strip but far enough away to be quiet. Would definitely return.

We stayed at Stema II in September 2011
Couple 23 & 25

We arrived and were greeted by the owner who was very friendly, we then booked in with another member of staff who didnt seem to speak any english, we later found out he did, he just wasnt very helpful. They also took our passports from us on arrival which i thought was very strange and put them in the key holes behind the desk which was completly open and not safe at all! i have never been anywhere where the hotel take your passports away from you and cant seem to give you an explanation why, we didnt get them back until 3 days into our holiday.

We were then shown to our room which was really big and looked great, however on further inspection was definately in need of a good scrub! the beds, bedding and curtains all smelt extremely fusty, and the kitchen cupboards and utensils all could have done with a dose of bleach! The bathroom had bare wires coming out of the wall and was very mouldy! We were also given 1 toilet roll for the week and when we asked for more we were told to buy our own, not a big deal but i expected more from a 3 star hotel.

The pool and the bar were great, the pool water was abit dirty for the first few days but they cleaned it out and put fresh water in, apparently it was all the sun tan lotion people use!
And the staff behind the bar were very helpful, Costas & Paula.

The main street in Sidari had some great bars and restaurants, but i was a little disapointed with the resort on a whole, it was all very grubby, not like any of the Greek resorts ive been to before. The hotel is advertised as right next to the beach but i wouldnt really say Sidari actually had a beach, theres a thin strip of sand covered in rubbish and 'waste' if thats what they meant. If you want a decent beach Agios Georgios (to the left of Sidari) is beautiful! well worth a trip and more like the Greece that i am used to!

Food wise, if your after a traditional Greek Taverna, El Greco on the corner right next to the hotel is fantastic and the staff are superb. Also down the main strip The Sea Breeze reastaurant also serves very tasty medeterainian food! Both excellent value for money.

Over all we had a lovely holiday but it definately could have been better. I would go back to Stema II again but only if it had had a proper scrub down and moved location to a better resort.

Room Tip: our room 121 was great on size, not for those wanting cleanliness though!

“EXCELLENT - COULD NOT FAULT IT!!!!”

We came back from Stema II on the 14th october, and we loved it, we are a couple aged 24 and 25! The rooms were lovely and very big, the staff were amazing, food was great as was pool and facilities. It was only a ten minutes walk away to the town and a couple of minutes to the beach, staff at the Stema could not do enough to help and were so welcoming. The holiday itself is what you make it if you want a lively hectic one you can or you can just relax. We have already booked to go back next June and cannot wait. If your looking for a holiday on a budget this is the best place to go but it wont feel like your on a budget holiday!!!

“Stema, Sidari”

Good place to stay. Self Catering, with plenty places to go shopping. Just a few minutes walk to the main street. The only thing is you are given just one toilet roll for the week. But the room was cleaned every day, apart from Sunday. The staff are really good, I can not complain. We had a new fridge replaced in our room. Due to the one we had having a problem with the door. The location was quite with plenty of bars and shops. Sidari is beautiful place to stay. We did go on the Sundowner trip in Corfu, which I would recomend. We had a good relaxing holiday, staying at the Stema. Enjoyed the BBQ evening, with greek dancing. I would recomend staying there. The owner is lovely and friendly. In the evening you can enjoy a meal or go to one of the Bars.
