“Great all round experience”

Over New Year we stayed at the Chaweng Regent in Koh Samui. The staff were friendly and attentive. The accommodation was comfortable and well situated. The hotel put on a spectacular New Year's Eve function around the pool with excellent food and great entertainment. Alot of trouble went into make the occasion extra special. The Thai people's love for children did not go unnoticed. The hotel is well situated along Chaweng beach. If not for the sound of aeroplanes taking off and landing I think it would have been THE nicest experience i've had in the east so far.

Room Tip: The family villas are excellent. With it's own private enclosed veranda.

“Great location”

This is the third time I have stayed here over several years. The setting and the quietness of the resort are great. I agree with some reviews that the fireworks going off late at night can be quite startling, not too mention loud. However the rest of the time it is very peaceful and the gardens excellent. The pool areas are great and I found breakfast to be fine.

I would stay here again, though I may not consider paying $250 a night if that was the only option.

The upshot is that if you want a good hotel close to the shops with beach access and don't mind the bit of noise you may get with fireworks and music at night, then it's a great choice really. That is the small trade-off for being that close to the action. Having said that I was never bothered by music once! This hotel is not that close to Ark Bar, so I'm not sure how you would ever hear their music.

“Fantastic Resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Great location - We loved this Resort, positioned directly on beautiful Chaweng Beach - walk out the front of the resort and you are right in the heart of the action on Chaweng Road. Rooms were clean and spacious, we booked the Deluxe Regency pool view room for 11 days and we had a balcony, breakfast included which was amazing. Only downside was that the shower pressure was very slow and I'm not a fan of the combined bath/shower and temperature hard to control - I recommend booking the next best room. All of the staff were exceptionally pleasant - we found there to be a bit of a language barrier - but overall they were always available and eager to assist. Value for money and both pools & surroundings were luxurious. We had continual poolside and beachside drinks/food/cocktail service. Fantastic resort - we had a wonderful time here. We will be definately stay at this resort again.

Room Tip: rooms by the pool or closer to the beach were quieter (except when there are fireworks on the beach...

“A wondeful, romantic stay - just needs some minor tweaks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

I must confess to being somewhat apprehensive when booking this hotel, mainly because of the reviews on tripadvisor.

I read through what felt like hundreds of them trying to make my mind up whether this hotel would be good to bring my wife on our honeymoon.

The long and the short of it is: we can understand why a minority of people *might* be upset with this hotel, but we weren't. In fact we loved it and would stay there again and would recommend it to anyone.

Based on a review we had seen on tripadvisor about overbooking I contacted the hotel by email prior to arrival and asked them if there would be an issue with this and they assured me there wouldn't (and there wasn't a problem).

I also requested an early check-in (due to 3 leg travel) which they very obligingly provided, along with an airport transfer which, although slightly over-priced was most welcome after such a gruelling travel schedule.

Check in was smooth and friendly.

The hotel is set in tropical gardens, almost like being in a jungle (in a nice way) with lots of fresh (not stagnant) water trickling through it. Little wooden low-rise structures, either bungalows or 2 storey flats with a room on each floor. Very nice indeed.

The room itself was adorable. Large comfortable bed, wooden floor, ample terrace and all the trimmings. Complimentary water was provided as one would expect.

Bathroom a little tired but not so much so that it would put you off.

One of the main reasons we booked this hotel was because we love a swim-up pool bar and the hotel did not disappoint, we spent many an afternoon there and found the pool bar staff to be warm, friendly and polite.
The pool in question is in the middle of the resort, is small and very relaxed.

The main pool was on the beach and more, well, "beachy" with a lot more people round it.

One of the only negatives we have about this hotel is the price of drinks. At 120 Baht for a local beer we were very disappointed. I feel the hotel could charge 60 Baht and possibly be MORE profitable due to the volume of people who would spend more time in the hotel and I would urge the manager to consider running a trial of this system.
To be fair there is a happy hour a 3pm which effectively does this, but 1 hour is not enough.

The beach was... amazing! This hotel seems to have some sort of agreement which means the sellers don't come right up to you on your sundbed peddling their wares, rather they let you see from a distance which is fine and acceptable.
The sand is beautiful and I think this hotel has just about the best position in the whole of Chaweng.

(By the way if you are thinking of staying anywhere else in Koh Samui and it is your first time, we would definitely recommend Chaweng Beach. Having driven round virtually the whole island we realised we were in by far the best spot)

The location was great in terms of external facilities. It is in prime position on Chaweng Beach road. A 2 minute walk to bars, restaurants and facilities galore.
One reviewer mentioned the noise at night. Ok fair point but it won't be different anywhere else in Chaweng Beach. It is a lively resort but in the room in bed I doubt you would be inconvenienced unless you were, dare I say it, nitpicking?

One thing I felt was a real example of the character of the hotel in general. My wife removed her wedding ring and diamond engagement ring in order to apply some sun-cream and in one of those holiday moments forgot to put them back on. We realised 30 minutes later at the poolside and rushed back to the room to check if they were still there.
The cleaners had already been in, but.. the rings were both still there.
I realise this is how you would expect this to be, but despite the obvious temptation we were relieved and extremely impressed with the honesty of the staff and in general how good the staff were in all departments of the hotel.

Do: Get a first floor room if you like your privacy
Don't: Stay at this hotel if you are looking for silence and complete calm

Top Tip: Going out at night? Try going along the beach instead! That's right just go barefoot and there are several fantastic beach bars (some loud, some quiet, we preferred the quiet ones) which will offer you fantastic value for money, and a front-row seat to watch the lanterns and fireworks which occur virtually every night :)

I hope this is a balanced account of everything and as I know the manager keeps a close eye on tripadvisor and often comments, would very much like to thank them for making us feel so very welcome and for making our honeymoon the very special trip it ought to be.

Keep up the good work :)

Room Tip: Bungalows and ground floor rooms may not be as private as you like with people walking past. If you...
