“Nice & spacious room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

Stayed in the superior room from 15 to 18 Dec 11. The staff are very friendly and informative when we ask about where to go and arrangement for tours. Feel really at ease staying there. The bedroom & bathroom are really spacious. The only thing we don't like is the noisy wooden bedframe. Once you sit on it or move your body, you will hear the quaking sound. Very irritating.

The hotel restaurant is a no no... The food they served is not up to standard. Eat only your free breakfast and do not order anything else.

Food and staff are very good. If you are into design you must see this place.

“beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011

arrived here 19th nov, (still here now) booked from another hotel in lamai about 20 mins upon arriving to Muang kulaypan, as we arrived they had only just recieved the reservation details via fax as we walked through the door. they told us to wait for 20-30 mins while they prepared our room so we had a walk around the grounds. the grounds are stunning and well kept. it is very opened spaced and you do not feel at all cramped together with other guests. It sometimes feels like you are the only guests at the hotel which we love. The pool is beautiful and looks very tranquil. A few steps away and you are on the beach. Beautiful Chewang beach. (far enough away from the most centre (nosiest) part of the beach, but only a 5-10 walk along beautiful views if you want bit more madness) chewang beach has every single type of restaurant and bars with beds to really have a cocktail and relax. back to the hotel, has a lovely restaurant (food lovely) and you can choose to eat in a restaurant atmosphere, or in a 4 persons lay down beach hut. Massages right on the beach are right up my street. as we got shown to our room, we walked into a very "chic", spacious room. Felt very chinese-esque. high, MASSIVE beds with lovely decor. Everday the cleaners light a candle with a calm relaxing insense in the bathroom. Lush! bedrooms well equipt, (tv, dvd players, towels, coffee and tea makers, hairdryers,) the only down side is that the balcony you are provided with is facing, well nothing really and has no chairs provided for the balcony but out the front door is a terrace with a few sunbeds which we have been using at night time. There is also the option of upgrading to the suites which have an upstairs and downstairs which i can imagine to be rather expensive but the room we are in are more than good enough. staff are all very friendly and helpful. They helped us book our trip that we wanted to go on and managed to get us on it the next day.

“A hide out for couples”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2011

This hotel is perfect located on the calm part of Chaweng beach. Perfect for loving couples seeking a romantic getaway but still want to have proximity to recreational sites. Do you have trouble climbing stairs and need crutches or a wheelchair, do not stay here. Breakfast is taken in one of the huts on the beach lying or reclining position. The rooms are more design than practically furnished and there is a yoga exercise to get out of bed from the deluxe rooms. I recommend this hotel for those who love design and think minimalism is exciting.
It's easy to get to both city center and restaurants from this a little odd hotel.

Room Tip: Do not take the superior rooms.

“Hip, contemporary, private and relaxing.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

I agree with other reviews that this is the right hotel for the right person. This is not a glamorous 5 star resort but a boutique hotel with a hip, contemporary design. (For example, the room had a black tiled wet room, tie-dyed linen and robes, hand made soaps etc.)

I loved this hotel and found the style to be young and modern. The quiet scene of the rooms and grounds was perfect for the relaxing stay I was after. There were not many children or families staying (mainly couples) and the hotel was quiet. Most days there were less that a dozen guests on the beach/pool chairs and always free beach huts for dining right on the beach.

The menu at the hotel was not extensive but meals were really generous in portions and of a high quality (I had both breakfast and lunch menu). Meals were more expensive than other places in town but that is to be expected.

The grounds were quiet, clean and well kept. There was a large grass area leading to the pool from the rooms, a small very basic gym area and table tennis table in a covered area. The pool was clean and refreshing and pool towels were readily available from the bar. After sitting down the pool attendant asked if I would prefer to lay in the sun or if I would like an umbrella. In general I found all the staff to be courteous but not overly fussy, which I appreciate as you can do as you like without being interrupted.

The room was clean and tidy with well working shower, toilet, AC and fridge. It also had sweet touches such as boutique soaps, tie-dyed robes, complementary fruit basket and decorative orchids.

I also agree with other reviews that for people with disabilities or that are less active, some of the design - paths, stairs etc. aren't suitable. Down to the pool there are mainly grass paths which I found really charming but obviously for some guests they may be unusable.

NB: At the time we went it was the end of low season and the hotel was very quiet, however Samui in general was not busy at all so impressions of the hotel being quiet may reflect the time of year.
