“What a dreadful hotel and what a terrible manager”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2009

This hotel urgently needs refurbishment and a change of manager who is rude and arrogant. This is not a 4* hotel. Nobody was available to take our luggage to our 2nd floor room (no lift). The barlady did not know how to open a bottle of wine. A shattered glass lay on the floor for two days. The bathroom was completely oudated. The shower, a tiny, leaking cubicle was appalling. The breakfast for 15 euros, a joke. When I complained to the manager he said that if I did not pay the full price he would call the Gendarmes, and he did. I paid 365 euros for one night and dinner
Basil Fawlty would not have stayed here,

“I kept expecting to see Basil Fawlty appear around a corner”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 June 2009

This hotel is diabolical ! I have travelled all around the world and while I enjoy 4* hotels, as long is a place is clean, well-maintained, and staff are pleasant I won't complain. The rooms in this hotel are very shabby and completely over-priced, with faded carpets and bedding, and furnished with what I suspect to be rejects from a garage sale. The restaurant manager was very friendly but waitress a tyrant - she gave out to me when I requested a plate of chips for my daughter, saying that I should have asked sooner then stormed off into the kitchen. Though we had pre-arranged a specific menu, we were told there had been a problem acquiring supplies so rather then the "gambas" and "foie gras" starters options we were proposed tomato mozza or goat's cheese salad. The tomato-mozza consisted of an buffalo tomato layered with mozza slices and cooked in the oven - horrible, and the goat's cheese was neither hot nor cold, all products were sub-standard. Anyway, to cut a long story short the meal was not good. The reception manager had absolutely no idea what she was doing, was desperately innefficient and verbally-abusive. I had a terrible experience with this hotel and would advise anyone to avoid it.

“Staff is horrible”

The staff is horrible. The management is horrible. The restaurant staff doesn't try to speak any English. There are no Elevators. There is no luggage assistance. The pool is distance and not well kept. The rooms are horribly overpriced. My work put me up here for a month and it was nothing but misery.

“a shame about the design and upkeep...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2007

Two of the six staff were very nice, the girl from Sri Lanka and the fellow from Iran. The rest were snots. The restaurant was excellent and good value for both dinner and breakfast. The staff there was nice... beautiful inside; outside the terrace looks out on the ratty golf course (dusty. stagnant water, yuk!).

We booked a suite in the chateau for 3. They gave us two suites in the annex because they said we could not bring the dog into the chateau. This was a lie. I made the booking, writing on the form that I had a dog. There was a wedding and they gave our room away is what happened.

Annex: Stairs everywhere!! No elevators. My husband is 80. No help with the luggage. Interior stairways have lighting that does not go on regularly. I nearly killed myself on a step. Pool covered in leaves. Not cheap. I paid 600 Euros for 2 nights for 3 plus the dog.

The room was on two levels; the fold out bed was 8 inches from the floor... good for the dog, but not for a 60 year old. 2 bathrooms; 2 toilets nice. But the shower was not completely glassed in. Flood city.

It could be a wonderful place.... Avoid!!

“What a mess”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2007

Very disappointing. We have stayed in chateaux before but this one needed a lot of money thrown at it. Cigarette ends everywhere, pool had no mats to rest on and pool full of flies and leaves. Weekend breakfast was fine but Monday we had to ask for food as there wasn't any and it was only 09.00.

The duplex room was a cross between MFI furniture and antique! Complained but too late by the time they wanted to move us and we were leaving never to return.
