“Hospitality doesn't get any better than this.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2011

Our 1st trip to the Outer Hebrides and we had the great fortune of staying with Doreen and Donald for 2 nights.
Doreen clearly knows her stuff but it was the completely natural and unaffected welcome when we arrived that set the tone. Use of our 1st names as if we were welcome friends just set us at ease and the homemade scones on arrival (and the next day as well to our surprise) just rounded off a great welcome.
Breakfast was great but beware - the portions are huge!

Had a superb 2 night stay with Doreen & Donald at there lovely home Hillside Bed & Breakfast. The reason we chose this place was because of the reviews on Trip advisor and we were not dissapointed one bit. The place is spotlessly clean, we took the en-suite room which was very cosy with a comfortable double bed. Also provided is a hopitality tray with some home baking to go with your tea, coffee or chocolate. The full scottish breakfast that we had each morning really set you up for the day ! All in all if you want to visit Barra which is very quaint & exquisite you would not need to look past this place as it's 11/10 Also worth a visit is Kisimul Castle (Donald takes you over on his boat) which can be seen from the breakfast room, and if your looking for a great curry The Kisimul Cafe is the place to go but make sure you book for either the 6pm or 7.30pm sitting as we nearly missed out!

“Lovely introduction to the Hebrides..”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 June 2011

First stop on our island hopping tour. Doreens was an excellent base, within walking distance of all the delights Castlebay has to offer. The rooms very comfortable and clean, and the home baking a very welcoming touch. We made good use of the lovely lounge provided for guests and watched Whisky Galore to put us in the mood for the rest of our trip .

“Scones and cakes”

We stayed 4 nights at this very good B & B. Doreen is an excellent hostess - she runs a very comfortable B & B. We really looked forward to Doreen's homebaking every day and especially when the weather was good enough to eat it alongwith a coffee on the patio and look out on a lovely view.
