“Incredible Family Holiday!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

South Point is truly a wonderful place to stay in Sri Lanka. The staff are so attentive and really made every effort to make our visit special. We are a family of 5 and visited with another family of 3. We stayed in South Point Abbey which is right next to South Point Villa and it was perfect for us. The villa is right on the water with stunning views and also has a private pool which is well maintained. The food is of a high standard and we preferred to eat there rather than in Galle, Unawatuna, etc. The entire process from enquiring about a reservation through to a follow up e-mail after our departure was seamless. If you're travelling to Sri Lanka I would highly recommend South Point for your stay.

South Point Villa - 3 Nov -10Nov 2011

What a beautiful Sri Lankan paradise. We had the most amazing time. The food was excellent and the service to the highest standard - every request was catered for. There is an excellent pool and a beautiful stretch of deserted beach. Rooms are a good size. The villa was spotless and cleaned regularly. Excellent free WIFI service. Very well managed and fantastic service.
Gamini the manager was excellent and we have the utmost praise for Prema and Presad for brilliant service. The chef Janaka produced some absolutely outstanding dishes. Special thanks to the owner - Sonali. Would definitely recommend and will be back.

“Best place to stay with children for a totally relaxed holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2011

My husband and I with our 4 children had a WONDERFUL time at South Point Villa. We really enjoyed the beautiful home and the food. Service was excellent !!!. If you want to relax in a beautiful setting and be pampered this is the place for you - I cannot say enough.

Our reservation was handled very efficiently from the time of inquiry to departure. The owner emailed to check prior to arrival our requirements. Everything we wanted was available. The manager very helpful, met us once a day or anytime we wanted and adviced us where to visit.

Ordering meals was easy. The chef checked daily what we wanted. We enjoyed the local food. Sri Lankan meals served with a lot of interesting dishes. you must try it. Children loved the fried ice cream and milk shakes.

visit eagle island and the bat island. 100s of bats can be seen. on our return we relaxed on the pier of South Point Cottage while the children tried catching fish for our supper. It was a lovely evening and beautiful location.

Farm Point was interesting. There was four wheel bike and a track to ride, which our sons enjoyed very much. saw wild peacock and fed the buffalo calves and relaxed in the modern farm house sipping freshly plucked coconut. we plucked different fruits to eat. We also visited the tea plantation. This is a MUST to all visitors.

Visited the Galle Fort and had dinner at Amangala. a beautiful place, We were advised to go on a guided tour of the fort, which we found very interestig.

Ask for Shandy and Lisa. The dogs are very gentle and the children loved them. Keep in mind they love to swim in the sea and go for walks. The icing to the cake was the dogs. Only if you ask for the dogs they are allowed into the garden. We were informed they were the owners children's pets.

We must mention the staff was always smiling and the team kept the villa spotlessly cleaned thru out our stay. It was never too much of trouble to tidy after the children. Our children cried when they left and is already planning their next vacation.

The vehicle was comfotable. Upali was a safe driver, kind and good with the children.

We recomend the villa for families with children. We definilty will be back next year for a longer stay.

The owners help the locols a lot. Visit their projects - you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Master bedroom and Searoom large with a lovely view of the sea

“Very nice place, with direct beach access, a bit on the high side re prices...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

its a great place and we enjoyed a slow life, between beach and pool.
Its also a bit pricey I would say, and the location is quite "alone", and travelling to Galle for dinner at night, not recommended, as traffic is much to chaotic.

Food was done well and the system works like an inhouse restaurant, you do pay a full restaurant bill every morning, itemized, all clear. We spent another 100-150USD by eating and drinking. Service as warm and friendly no complains, only praise.

The beach is w direct access from the house, but the beach is kind of short, say a 100 m to walk at best, then you hit stones and then another beach shows up. Water looked clean but the beach crest is littered like any other beach in India or Africa, with lots of plastic debris, bottles, cups, foils. I guess this beach has no "owner" who cares for it daily, by collecting the spilled dust. This is a difference to a Hotel, etc.

A sad story is the internet - which worked only one and a half day,
all complaints were in vain, and the manager looked rather helpless.

To sum it up, a good place to spend a few days, then to move on.

“The best place to have a special Birthday. 3 couples, 1 week.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 June 2011

We were low season 28th May to 4th June and the weather was brilliant. A beautiful sea breeze .Amazing house with a horizon pool overlooking the pole fisherman.Swam between the surf , 2 minutes walk and the pool. Had our meals on the verandah overlooking all this, massage anytime on a table in the garden, and then upstairs to the balcony for a night cap. Beds were turned down and mozzie nets loosened. Went to sleep to the sound of the waves.
Kumara our driver took us anywhere we wanted. A few places were suggested such as the turtle hatchery , the tea plantation, and Galle. But we also just suggested a drive south and north and found some awesome places. Shall list below.
The high lite was my was husband's 60th. We started in the pool with a champagne and croissant breakfast. Had a phone call from Sonali the owner wishing a Happy Birthday and also gave a gift. We had booked for lunch at The Sunset house in Galle.
The best G & T's in Dick's bar then Shepard pies in the garden restaurant .
I pre arranged fireworks but the staff organized a guitarist for before and then he sang Happy Birthday afterwards. The chef carved a watermelon with a candle as a deco on the dinner table,All the staff including the Gardner were wonderful, but Sugith's (Sootie) smiling face greeted us each day and saw us retire each night. He took us for a walk to the other villa on the lake. Also to the temple. The tea plantation was worth the visit with an entertaining host. As was the visit across the road to the community center. The 4 year old children sung to us and we 6 Aussies sung " Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree". They were so polite and didn't laugh. We gave them some money. We received an email when we got home saying that they had used it for a new swing and slide as the old one was unsafe. We did not allow enough time to get back to Colombo airport on a Saturday. It took us just over 5 hours. Let Kumara know your flight time and allow extra.
Must DO :-
Go to Sri Lanka. People amazing. Food fantastic and no road rage. South Point has it all !!!
Mt Lavina, Buba beach restaurant Colombo, be there before sunset, table on the beach,
Paradise Gallery for lunch Colombo. Also Mango.
Water Creatures Restaurant, Marissa beach, 20 mins sth of Sth Pt Abbey. They made a cake for Gaz that was like an airbrush..The place is over the water.
The sunhouse, Dick's bar ph 091 2222624
The Eden - we took a boat trip from here and stopped for lunch at Aida, Bentota. Also see a working gem business here.
