“Friendly family place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

Me and my family have so enjoyed our holiday here that we have been 3 times! The staff are friendly, the apartment spacious and clean (the odd cockroach has to be expected), the views are magnificent and the 2 swimming pools are, em, refreshing.
IN 2008 when we visited, my 8 year old suddenly had diarrhoea whilst sitting in the jacuzzi. The lady working in the top bar couldn't have been more helpful... or discreet.
A word of warning though. If you are in a ground floor apartment with balcony above the street. don't relax your guard by leaving your balcony doors open when you go to bed. We were woken at 3am by a burgler outside our bedroom door. He fled with my purse which, luckily had nothing but small change in it. The staff offered to call the police but we were too embarrassed by our stupidity.
There are plenty of family friendly restaurants nearby and a good supermarket a short walk way.We really liked the friendly lady who ran Scoobies....nuttella sandwiches and proper squash.
When booking the coach to get you to the fantastic zoo, ask how long it takes. Six hours is a long time!

Room Tip: The further from the street level the better

“Lovely staff”

The apartments are basic but clean and spacious, we had a fantastic view of the cliffs from our balcony. Our daughter loved the swimming pool on the roof and Isabella who worked in the cafe, who was so friendly and kind to her. We booked half board, and once we'd notified the chef that we were vegetarian, they made such a special effort every night to provide us with lovely food.

“hotel of two halves...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2011

We arrived by hire car from the airport. Parking is on-street and appears busy but in the week we stayed there were always spaces.
Reception was quick and efficient and we were given the keys to room 85. We had requested a single bed apartment on a high floor, so we got a two bedroom apartment (for just 2 of us) on the first floor. The apartment was big with two good sized bedrooms, a small but well equipped kitchen, good sized if slightly elderly bathroom and good sized lounge. Now having read the reviews of the hotel and seen people raving about the views we wondered if we had come to the same place! Both the lounge and main bedroom had narrow balcony's looking straight across a narrow street into a grubby apartment block! Below is a supermarket and across are various bars, all who start delivery's at around 06.30 with the usual van noise, shouting clattering and banging! The rooms are only single glazed so there is no-way of shutting this out! Especially when trying to sleep a night and it starts getting 'lively' outside!
I inquired about moving to a sea view room to be asked 'why didn't you ask for one when you booked?' Because we weren't given the option, that's why! But after 3 days we were moved to a room on the other side of the hotel after paying the 'sea view supplement'. This room was also 2 bed but much brighter and more modern with a nice peaceful balcony to relax on.
As said there is no air-con in the rooms, just fans but these were sufficient. Lots of little ant's but of course this is where they live and they don't eat much!
Both rooms were spotless.
All in all after we moved it was a different world and we enjoyed our stay. We didn't use the restaurant either eating out on our travels or cooking, buying from the two supermarkets nearby which are excellent.
The Wi-Fi was broken during our stay but the hotel will rent USB dongles which work perfectly, we needed interned as we were in the middle of a house sale at the time.
Two local eateries we recommend..The Chicken Shack.just along the side road and second left..it sells roast chicken..but with great atmosphere and reasonable prices. Also the Italian built into the end of the Hotel on the main road side, brilliant food and take away service too, we only went on the last night and could have put a stone on if we'd found it earlier!
Make sure you ask for a sea view room and you won't be disappointed..

Room Tip: Book a sea view room.

Dear Neilb62,

Thank you for your stay with us, we are glad that you enjoyed it.
As we have gardens on each level of the complex we are looking for a more efficient solution for the ants with our fumigation company. We apologise for this inconvenience!
Hope to see you back soon.

“Satisfied, will stay again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

It's not a five start hotel which is reflected in the price but I'd definitely stay again. The kitchen was very well equipped. There was everything there, from a coffee machine and toaster to a corkscrew and ice bucked to chill your wine or champagne. The staff are friendly and helpful. The main disadvantage is, funny enough, the guest themselves - many Scandinavian and German visitors put their towels on deckchairs early in the morning to 'reserve it', then disappear for hours... maybe it should be monitored.

Room Tip: Toiletries... We were given soap and shampoo only on the first day. I asked for them at the recepti...

Dear antea993,

Thank you for choosing us for your holidays, we are happy that you enjoyed your stay with us!

Would like to apologise for the towel problems, we inform all our guests in the information letters and on the notice boards situated on the swimmingpools but sometimes seems that it is not enough.

Also apologise for the mistake by our cleaning staff not leaving you the amenities as they sould. I already had a meeting with the housekeeper about it.

Hope to see you back in the neer future.

“I see adverts offering it "from £8/night". I wouldn't pay more.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

Unfortunately, I did. Travelling with two small children (1 ½ and 4 ½), we booked it as part of a pre-paid holiday package. It cost us £1500 for two weeks, so about £100 per day. At this price, it was... disappointing is about the mildest I can say.

There is no air-condition, only ceiling fans. We had two bedrooms. The room sizes were just about, but the kitchen was tiny, with no room for more than one person at a time. It was also vary basic, we had to supply absolutely everything from kitchen salt to washing up liquid. But at least there was a fridge and a microwave. There was a daily cleaning service but the floors were absolutely filthy. There was no chance of walking around barefoot as you ended up with black feet in seconds. Towels were replaced daily but soap or shower gel was never replenished and the bed sheets were changed only once per week.

We soon discovered tiny ants in the kitchen, so we had to keep any opened food packages in the fridge. Later we also found cockroaches in the bathroom. When I brought one to the reception, the receptionist said, "Oh yes, a cucaracha (Spanish for cockroach). They are everywhere!" We killed 5 in the two weeks we stayed there.

Our holiday package did not include food, but there are two supermarkets just a few steps outside, so that was no problem. There are also a few eateries right at the premises and a lot more nearby. Just don't think too much about those cockroaches.

On the positive side, we only used the apartment as a base to go around and return there only to sleep. It served the purpose pretty well. Including the two days that we spend just lazing about in the hotel pool (I liked the rooftop one with a spectacular view of the sea and the cliffs; and it also had a bar that served hot food). Tiny children's playground with about two seesaws was closed for maintenance during our entire stay, but the children didn't miss it thanks to the pool.

As a summary, I would recommend it to a budget traveller, with a VERY strong emphasis on the word budget.

Room Tip: The higher floor the better. It is some distance from the beach and the lower floors have the view o...

Dear Mr Pichlo,

Thank you for your critics, thanks to them we can always improve our services day by day.
I am sorry that you didn´t received the washing up liquid and the soaps every day during your stay. Would kindly ask you the next time to report this at our 24 hours reception so we can correct our faults during your stay.
I know that is not an excuse but this year the summer was longer as normal and due to the hot months there are more indigenous bugs on the Canary Islands. We are testing new formulas to combat them. We apologise for it.
Nevertheless, we are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and than you for recomending us.
Kind regards,
