“Good Stay”

Was excellent value for a Los Gigantes hotel. The hotel has a supermarket 30m from the front door (step out, turn left). The rooms almost all have sea views and are spacious, well equiped and air conditioned, they are quite old, but very well looked after. Went self catering and there's all the basics you need for this. €10 depost for the 2 remote controls - aircon and TV, which is understandable. TITSA's 473 (slow) / 477 (fast) buses from Las Americas stop 5m from the front door. Their staff were very polite and professional, I have worked on a hotel reception before and was impressed.

Some brilliant sunsets to be seen from the balcony - the sun sets over La Gomera island at about 7pm and it's worth sitting outside with a bottle of wine.

Only complaint - despite 30 Spanish TV channels and about ten German channels, there's only one English channel, Euronews - awful! ...annoying as about half their guests are English. So was left watching BBC's Top Gear dubbed into Spanish :o( however there is a normal euro scart socket on the back of the TV, so it was lucky I brought a DVD player and some films.

Booked to stay with them again in a few weeks, so proves they are good.

Over the 5 days - trips done by public bus (much cheaper & quieter)....
(1) Masca, a beautiful mountain village, lots to see, then a two hours difficult walk down it's amazing gorge to the small isolated beach below. Ferryboat back to Los Gigs (€10) - lots of people do it. (2) Teide, the Volcano which Tenerife sits on (reqs two buses) - up on the cable car (€15) from the Teleferico bus stop, some breathtaking views from the 3700m summit, then hiked back down to the bus stop. (3) Puerto de la Cruz - brilliant for shopping & food, and plenty to do. Long but very scenic 1hr 50m bus ride from the front door of the hotel. (4) Garachico - a small town with some fantastic black sand beaches, near Icod.

“Top Location”

Stayed early December in one bed apartment that sleeps four.Generous rooms and choose a sea view as you get the sun all day.We did Self Catering as we prefer to eat out at night in the sea front restaurants (Incognito rec.)Hotel food looked the usual "International" boring stuff so we bypassed that as we eat for the complete experience not just to stay alive!
Beds are twin but too hard for me but my wife didn't have a problem(I put the mattress from the pull out bed on top which made it fine!)Rooms cleaned daily and many towel changes so no complaints.Roof top pool area lovely for soaking up the sun (27c and didn't see a cloud for 4 days) and quiet.Unfortunately there is a septic tank or something similar nearby so you do get the Spanish Stench if the winds blowing the wrong way.Staff are friendly without being obtrusive.
This Hotel is good value and for those wanting away from the Playa de las Americas concrete hell/noise it's location is excellent. We hired a car and found Playa San Juan lovely: laid back, quiet and a great beach/fishing port.

Room Tip: Sea view on a high floor

“Best swap ever”

We were booked to go to costa del Selencio, but the week before we were due to go my husband read new reviews which were really shocking . I refused to go so we changed hotels, best move ever. The transfer was an hour, which was okay. When we pulled up at the Dragos i couldnt believe my eyes it was lovely, inside was even better. Our room was 404 on the fourth floor, (which looked out to sea ) which is the same floor as the pool. Pool was cold but we were there in november so hay ho, i wasn't that bothered there was the beach. The apartmentwe booked was a one bedroom, but when we went in, we had a single as well as a double room and were told that was standard. Can't fault the hotel in any way. The supermarket is just round the corner, the china town 2 (first place you come to) was great, also Casa Peppes. The best food for me was the arena bar (sports bar), 2 course sunday lunch £7, lesley and ethel put x-factor on for us girls.

Room Tip: Dont take a room on first floor under the pool, as all the machinary is under you and it is noisy.

“Close to the sea at a great price.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

My husband and I were looking for an affordable place to stay a little bit away from the main tourist cities and this was perfect! The other reviews are spot on in that you are right next to a bus stop so leaving to any other part of the island is simple. There is also a well stocked grocery market just next door if you want to make a meal in the apartment or just get some snacks. Great little restaurant with good fish just down the road and if you want a little more variety it is a 5-10 minute walk by the sea to Playa la Arena where there are more options. Pool is small but enough and has a view of the ocean. Breakfast for 3euros a day, you can't beat this.
