“interesting property with only a few bad spots”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2011

you can start being happy about the fact, that the internet is free and surprisingly speedy for spanish standard. am writing this review in my room and i have had no problems uploading fotos from my trip so far.

when i do a rating for spanish hotels, i don't expect them to be spotless clean like in germany or provide excellent cuisine like in france or italy. i expect older, but not outworn furniture, lights that are not cozy, but does the job. bare walls and spacious apartments. this is, what you are gonna get at this property.

i did not see the rooms, but the apartments comply with my description, has gorgeous sea view, are around 70 m2, 2 bedrooms and 2 toilets, a sitting area and a terrace with 2 sunbeds and a table for 4. absolut ideal for a 2+2 family, 2 couples sharing or a single snoring couple. there is no kitchen, but a refrigirator and a few glasses. more can be added when needed. the hotel has a bar, where they serve one of my favourite whisky's: glenmorangie. in the season the restaurant is open every night. the menu is limited to a few good fish, a steak and pork. i don't need anything more, when i stay in a hotel for a week on an island which is LOADED with genious restaurants in every corner.

service at the restaurant is really good, but can get slow when it's busy (at breakfast). be prepared to notice the staff, when the buffet is out of cheese, plates and so on and will be filled up on the double. in addition to the buffet, the waiter will serve you fresh squeezed orange juice and a soft boiled eg, if you ask for it. the buffet is not the same as in the ritz carlton ;-)

ibiza is a somewhat expensive island, when you are looking at hotels. this hotel provides you with the things you need to enjoy a good stay with a reasonable value for the peak season

Room Tip: avoid room ca-1 as it is located directly underneath the restaurant area

“Great place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2008

My wife and I stayed at the Victoria Hotel from the 22nd July - 29th July 2008. Our overall experience was a very positive one.
Upon arrival the owner of the hotel greeted us warmly, offering us a complimentary drink and chatted to us about the history of the hotel and how his parents had built the hotel in the late 1960s.

As the hotel was fairly quiet we were upgraded to a superior room with a gorgeous view of Port Des Torrent from the large balcony. The ample sized room consisted of a separate bathroom and bedroom as well as TV and fridge with freezer.
The décor could possibly do with updating, the chairs were a little worn for example, but this wasn’t any cause for concern.

Breakfast was served between 9am – 11am and was a typical continental affair. There wasn’t a huge variety on offer but it served its purpose. Wonderful panoramic view from the restaurant terrace.

There is a pool at the hotel, which we only used once due to us being on the beach most days, but it was clean and a nice size. There isn’t a shallow end for children.

The members of staff that we met throughout our stay were all polite, helpful and friendly.

You do need transport to get to the hotel due to its remote location, but this is part of its appeal. If you’re after somewhere rural away from the bars and clubs and appreciate peace and tranquillity then this hotel is for you!

Excellent holiday and a superb stay at the Victoria Hotel.

  • Liked — Great views. Tranquil setting. Friendly staff.
  • Disliked — Poor TV reception, the furniture has seen better days.

“Don't Bother!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2005

Stopped at the Club Victoria, 1st to 15th October 2005. Myself and my wife thought we would pay a little extra for a 'quality' 4-star hotel, bokked through 'classic-collection', which specialises in up-market hotels!

Upon arrival, we were a little concerned at the small dark entrance to the reception area, where we were 'greeted' by some relative of the owners, who over the course of the next 2 weeks we wondered whether she was afflicted by some inability to smile. A cheap shot upon arrival was when prompted whether we wanted the option of a safety deposit box in our allocated room, we would be charged 2 euros per day. Not a great amount at thr end of 2 weeks, but when you've overpaid at it happens for what you receive, thought this was a little below the belt. As we arrived on 1st October we were 'upgraded' and when we were shown to this room we were shocked. Basically, one of the windows had been cracked resulting in a gap of around half an inch in the pane, the satellite tv which was 'available', was a 14" portable balanced precariously on a chair, when when turned on was impossible to watch due to the terrible reception. The cistern in the bathroom continually overran down into the toilet, the 2-seater sofa had been around for years judging by the terrible stains which were covering the fabric. We couldn't stop in this room.

To cut a long story short, we were moved into a 'superior suite', apparently the second most exclusive room in the complex. It was larger and a little more less stained, although the drains from the 2nd bathroom stank for the entire duration of the 2 weeks. Again a window was cracked in one of the 2 bedrooms and one of the patio doors wouldn't lock as the lock was damaged. This 'improved' room, cost me another 583 euros for the 2 weeks, 50% discount. However, the best was yet to come.

We ventured out for some fresh air on our first night, returning to the hotel at around 1030pm. However, when trying to gain access into the hotel we couldn't. We had been locked out!!!! Banging on doors all to no avail. At around 11pm and english couple arrived back at the hotel but they were stopping in another part of the hotel detached from the area where we were stopping. Shortly after a german couple arrived back and suggested knocking on the door of a villa nearby where the relatives of the owners lived. This after ringing a number left in case of emergencies, from which there was no reply. After banging on the door of this villa, we were somewhat reluctantly assisted in getting backinto the hotel. All this on the 1st day!!

In sum, it was grossly over priced and the 4 star rating extremely misleading. If your considering stopping here, think again - please!
