“An absolute gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2011

This is our fourth stay in Puerto Cala Vadella and we tend to stay here for mini breaks. The staff at the hotel are very pleasant and Pedro the bar man is extemely friendly and has great taste in chill out music! Having stayed here during June and August, June is definately the quieter month, with many of the beaches being almost deserted.
The rooms at Cala Valdella are spacious and cleaned regularly and the best ones to go for are the ones on the top floor as you get a wonderful view over the bay.
There are not many restaurants to eat in, but those that are open have a good selection of food. You don't have to walk far to get a decent meal.
There are no busy roads through Cala Vadella just a dirt track so noise and pollution are never an issue. However if you want to explore the island you need to hire a car - preferably in advance as it much cheaper. Try Travelsupermarket for good deals.
Cala Vadella is not a hip happening noisy trendy place, but a great quiet, chill out, pretty bay.

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floor overlooking the bay are the best.

“Well looked after, we'll be back!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

Our visit in Aug '11 one to cherish! First nite no room at the inn, well disappointed, so moved us to nearby sister apartment. Next day Theresa looked after us, providing us with a nice room with great view of the cove, mind you other apartments dont have this luxury, so be sure to ask! No air-con in the rooms, a Paddy like me cant sleep in heat. Bring matches to light gas hob. Ants invaded once or twice, we left food out so our fault. Not there to watch tv but satellite channels not really working. You can see these are only small issues, but it helps. The good news is very clean, perfect location, few shops & bars nearby, BEAUTIFUL beach (especially at sunset). Bus to towns 10am, 12pm, 6pm, 8pm - very handy. Car rental close by, but try to book online before you go because its cheaper.

“Nice resort”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2011

The resort is lovely, nice beach & a few restraunts & bars, very family friendly. The hotel could do with updating a bit. No room have airconditioning, fans can be hired (if your lucky) but you do really need airconditioning. We had to go back to reception to ask for bedlinen & towels for out two children because they hadn't given us any. Bringing a travel kettle is a must as there isnt any in the rooms, there are a few cups, plates & some cutlery,a cooker & a fridge, a toaster & microwave would of been useful.
There are safes in the room although we were told it was more secure to hire the safes at reception & weren't given the option to hire the one in the room.
The shower was a bit of a pain as it constantly went very hot then cold, need to be cafeful when the kids are using it!
We had a bit of a problem with ant,out toothbrushes were a big attraction to them & then spend two night sharing a bed with them. I did tell reception & they did seem to sort it but only for a day.
The whole place was kept very clean & we had clean towels & our room cleaned every day.
With a few changes this would be a perfect place because its in an idylic position.
A word of warning if your planning on getting a taxi to the airport, allow plenty of time we waited approx an hour & a half & then only one arrived when we'd ordered two.

Room Tip: Ask for a groundfloor room as there are no lifts

“Great location but hotel is dated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2011 via mobile

Pool area is great with lots of good quality sun loungers the pool itself is small and very busy, its the only pool in the area and is used by guests from other hotels too. Rooms are very basic and dated. The loo in our room was broken. Bedding and towels were often just thrown into the room by the maids. Shower was ok, plenty of hot water. No secure storage for luggage after checkout, which is at 11.30. Rooms were plagued by ants. No air con and fans in short supply. Bring your own kettle. No microwave. Not much cutlery or crockery. There was a break in while we stayed and we heard reports of similar incidents. However the resort is fantastic. Very small and family orientated. Very safe and quiet. There are only about six restaurants and bars in the resort and the menu is limited. The beach is great but sun beds and parasols are €6 each. Average meal for two adults and two children €80. It's a great resort IF you can put up with basic accomodation.

“Functional rooms in a great location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2011

Definitely value for money - a great budget hotel. This certainly isn't for somewhere for those looking for a luxury stay (which we weren't) however the rooms were perfectly functional and clean. The staff were friendly. However the location is brilliant - right on a beautiful cove with lots of restaurants and cafes nearby. I would definitely stay again if I came back to the area on a budget.
