“Worst Holiday Ever”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 March 2010

My gf and i went to Paraiso Playa July 2007 as we had been to Tenerife a good few times and thought we would try something different.
The hotel is located on top of a hill on its own with no shops or anything else in walking distance and completely isolated.
All local bars/shops can be found a short cab journey away in the town Jandia, and we found a nice english pub that served good drinks.
VERY VERY WINDY
The hotel was clean and the pool area was very nice. Pool was freezing though!
One problem we had was with the food, do not get the food from the small pool bar as there are flys all over the place and the meat is probably pre cooked the night before. Both of us got bad food poisoning and spent the majority of our 2 week stay in bed. The food in the restaurant was just standard hotel food, not much variety but to be honest the last thing on my mind was eating more food. The hotel staff did not speak english however if you were German they spoke that fluently. In the whole hotel there was only 4 english people, the rest were the speedo wearing sun bed stealers.
I would never go back to this hotel, it was way too isolated for my liking and the food sucked.

“Good February break”

The hotel is quite isolated, with no local shops or bars, but if you rent a car you can travel easily around the island as the roads are good. We found renting a car from Auto reisen at the airport for a week was cheaper than a return taxi fare!
The hotel rooms are spacious but the decore is a little tired.
The all inclusive package was great. The food was very enjoyable the entertainment "enthusiastic," the staff very helpful and beach peaceful. (The chipmunks provide some amusement!)
The whole family had a great time. and we would definitely return.
(We were the only British guests in the hotel as we had travelled independently. The hotel clients were mainly German and French.)

“Great Holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2009

All in, this was a very good holiday experience, nothing that needed to be complained about. The Staff were very good and the Animation team worked very hard and all spoke good English. Rooms were spacious and comfortable with massive wardrobes a quality safe, free tv, aircon, a telephone in each room. Every room has a balcony or terrace overlooking the sea. Maids come in everyday and are very thorough. If you are traveling independently make sure you have an idea where the hotel is on the island as it could be hard to find. see directions below . Food was plentiful with lots of choice and was presented to a high quality.

This hotel is very isolated 10km from the nearest facilities. However the beach is just at the back of the pools down a flight of stairs, and there are plenty of sports to play on site also with 2 day bars you can eat and drink whenever you want.

YOU WILL SEE NAKED PEOPLE ON THE BEACH as Esquinso is a very popular Naturist/Nudist Beach.

You are very likely to meet naked people in the free Hotel Sauna and Turkish Bath so be warned if this may upset you.

Beach towels can be rented from reception which saves filling suitcases with towels.

Down the steps to the beach and turn left and walk to the cliffs and you can feed the Chipmunks with peanuts they are really funny and take nuts from your hand.

If you are looking for a lively holiday I would say look elsewhere as the evening entertainment is limited to Mini Disco, Mime/Dance Shows , Bingo, & Quiz. Snake Show , Flamenco Show, Riverdance Show.

Our first week we were the only English in the hotel which was fine with us as we dont like the loud Brit holiday culture. second week about 3 other Brit families. The rest of the guests were mainly German & French with a sprinkling of most other european countries, a nice crowd of people. The staff could all understand us and communicate with us. if you try to use a little Spanish the are even better.

From the airport follow the main road down the island past Costa Caletta, Costa Calma and the take the turn off the motorway to MAL NOMBRE at the second roundabout take the BETHIHONDA turning. The only building on this road is the Sunrise Paraiso Playa on the left. Journey time from airport at speed limit is about 1hr15mins on very good roads.

The cheapest car we could find was LOW COST CARS at £234 for 14 days

Bad bits

As with most all inclusive buffet situations the food needed to be kept hotter as in a lot of cases it was just below warm. However there were microwaves available if needed.
I would have been happier if the Tomato Ketchup, Mustard etc had been kept in a small refrigerator and not left on the side of the serveries.

We flew with Ryan Air but they are stopping flights to Fuerteventura.

Easy Jet do go Luton to Madrid to Fuerteventura at a good price.

A Great holiday not a Football (except on the sports court) or a Yobbo in sight we loved every minute

“If your not german dont bother !”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2008

we arrived after a one hour coach journey to our destinstion . my first impression was ok the hotel looked clean and tidy. a receptionist greeted us and told us were are rooms were and gave us the directions. this was early hours of the morning and nobody was there to show us to our rooms. after half and hour of searching up and down the stairs dragging our heavy cases we went back up to the reception and asked again as the directions werent to clear. we evetually found the room and settled in .
we woke up and went to the restraunt for our breakfast this was nice and the waiters were helpful and the tables were alway cleaned. after our breakfast we wernt down to the pool side and started our sunbathing. around dinner time we went to the pool bar. I ordered a burger. it was ready in a matter of secconds and was cold and pink inside. this put me off the eating at the pool bar for the rest of the two week holiday.

WE LIVED ON CHIPS !!!
the hotel only caters for germans ! at night the food that me and my family ate were chips everyday ! and the left overs from the night before were used in the lunch on the day after.
the waiters home in on the young girls as soon as their parents are out of site. the ask to take them on a tour of the island and their number . basically they are all pervs !

the germans think because they paid to go on the holiday they should get treated better than everybody else . they look at you like you are something they have stood in ! they constantly stare and you and it maked you feel really uncomfortable

as for the animation team thats a joke ! there were german children around the age of 14/15 jumping off of the steps by the sauna into the pool . the animation team did nothing even when they were told about the incidents. the german children need to learn respect for their elders ! there was on girl who had love bites filled all over her neck and her parents did nothing about it !
they also walked towards you expecting you to move in a intimadating way

as for the cleaning our bedding was chaged twice over our 2 week stay. i took my bedding off even to save them the trouble and they just put the dirty bedding back on. the towels we hung back up even when they were placed in rthe bathtub as the hotel asked if u wanted clan ones.

on a lighter note the beach and accomondation were stunning . the beach looked like a carribbean brouchure.

in conslusion if you dont mind eating chips and sleeping in a dirty bed go by all means but this hotel IS MADE FOR GERMANS
