Once again we have stayed at Carpe Diem in Miami Playa, Catalonia. Inge and Peter made us so welcome we love to visit.
Couldn't help noticing one other person's feedback on this place - can't imagine how the lady in question thought Inge was American, she speaks with cut cristal tones in a wonderful English accent - admittedly her partner Peter is American. Inge was born in Singapore and grew up later in England.
Anyway, the hotel. Wonderful value for a 2 star hotel. Comfortable double bedded room with full ensuite - everything a visitor could wish for.
The restaurant as always offered superb freshly prepared food and a congenial atmosphere. We ate outside this time by candlelight. The menu is so difficult to choose from, we could have eaten there every night for a week without a duplication. As always I could not be pulled away from the Greek salad, even though the other starters were very tempting, my husband enjoyed the sea food. We followed with shoulder of lamb that fell off the bone and was delicious. The missippi mud pie and the apple pie melted in the mouth.
The local wine served at this hotel is a real treat and the coffee is always aromatic and mild.
You must give this place a try, whether to stay or just for a meal. You will be made so welcome.

I've just returned from a week staying at the Carpe Diem and I can't praise it too highly. Peter and Inge are great hosts, friendly, helpful, informative, hard working, the sort of people you would design to run a hotel and you pray don't sell up and move on. You do honestly feel that you're a very welcome guest that's staying in their home. The bedrooms all have very effective aircon (what a boon!) and are scrupulously clean if relatively basic (albeit the lack of frills in the bedrooms eg no tea/coffee maker, no fridge, is reflected in the price and the hotel offers great all-round value for money).

Even if you don't stay at Carpe Diem but choose another hotel in the area then do go and eat there one evening as the food is fabulous. Peter is the chef and the main courses are all beautifully presented and cater for all tastes. Inge's puddings are also mouth watering and belt busting. Eat there and you won't leave hungry or disappointed or too much out of pocket.

Miami Platja's beaches are excellent and whilst the town itself is quite plain it is a good base for exploring that part of Spain and Barcelona is only a 90 min train ride away.

So, overall, if you're looking for good value, great food, attentive friendly hosts and a base for either a beach holiday or to drive around the area between Barcelona and Valencia, then I doubt you can do better than the Carpe Diem. I shall definitely go back.

We have just returned from a two week break in the area. We stopped at the Hotel for one night on recomendation before travelling on to our Villa for the rest of the holiday. From the moment of our arrival we were made so welcome by Inge and Peter. The rooms are lovely and comfortable and the menu in the eveings is fabulous. We returned several times during our break and each time we were never disappointed. Even the kids meals are fantastic and cooked from fresh local produce .
Peter is a fabulous chef and his meat dishes especially the T Bone steak was superb.
We would definately recomend the hotel to stay or to eat , if only to meet and be entertained by Inga. We found her absolutely charming and full of local knowledge of the area.

We were lucky enough to stumble across the Carpe Diem while on a driving holiday through Spain. Of a dozen hotels we stayed at none delivered the all round service of Peter and the crew at Carpe Diem.
My mouth is watering as i remember the meal.
