“We really enjoyed our stay at Saffron House”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2011

The rooms are very clean and comfortable and well equipped. The swimming pool was lovely to cool down in after our long journey. Ian and Jenny are very welcoming and helpful. It was very useful to have Ian drive us to a local restaurant on our first evening. Breakfast was very good lots of choice. A really enjoyable stay thank you.

“Not a place for peace and quiet - ideal for families”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2010

STAY AWAY IF YOU ARE A SMOKER. Their website gives no indication that all rooms are non-smoking, and my booking requiring a smoking room elicited no response from them. When I arrived I realised that they very strictly enforce no-smoking everywhere inside the building.

FREE INTERNET; Wifi - strong signal

The location is perfect. The house overlooks the luscious green north coast, and the gardens is beautiful. The beach is a very short walk away. The house is however away from the main tourist attraction, and the area is peaceful an quiet. This will however mean that you have to use a car to travel to the shops and restaurants. The B&B offers a shuttle service, but because of the distance in holiday season travelling from the B&B to the main shopping area can take up to an hour or longer.

The rooms are immaculate and have a cottagey feeling without being too crowded. The pool is sparkling and the garden a pleasure. I did not have breakfast (my own choice), and therefor cannot comment on the quality of the food.

One thing you will NOT get at the B&B is a sleep in. The shrill voice of the son of the owner wakes you just after 7, and even though his dad quietened him every time; by the time he is quiet, you are guaranteed to be awake. He enjoys the pool, playing outside my room at 07:30 one day. Cute, if you did not intend sleeping in.

The workers arrive at approximately 08:00, and they discuss their day's work on the way in, with the result if you slumbered in after the son's wake-up call, you will be awake again.Coming back in the afternoon for a rest is also not a good option. The play area of the neighbours kids was right next to my room, so I had the pleasure of listening to the brother and sister argue on the trampoline. The front door, doorbell and phone was right next to my room. Anyone calling will wake you up.

This is a beautiful place and ideal holiday venue if you have noisy kids and are out of bed at 07:00 and do not like to have slow, quiet, peaceful days. I would suggest the place to non-smoking parents with kids. If you want to relax and wind down, stay away.

Dear Danie, thank you for your feedback. With regard to "smoking rooms" i have contacted the website that you booked through and all our rooms now show "non smoking" with designated smoking areas outside.

Very best regards

We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed it very much. A nice house and very friendly hosts. One evening we had dinner cooked by our host and it was very good, as was the wine. We hope to have a chance to come back some day.

“Extremely nice room and property, quiet, close to the beach & excellent breakfast!”

This bed and breakfast is an excellent find! The property is safe, beautiful, quiet and close to the beach! It is also close enough to Durban for extremely easy day trips. The breakfast (omlettes) are spectacular! Additionally, Ian and Jenny (hosts) are very helpful, yet not intrusive. We had an awesome World Cup, as well as wonderful bed and breakfast experience!

“Great location, rooms & Hosts!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 July 2010

5 of us stayed there and it was great. It is the a very beautiful, clean and large house. The breakfasts were great and we could walk to the beach in 5 min at the most. It was safe and located in a beautiful area of the coast. We would highly recommend it.
